2 naps a day..

For the last week or so dd2 (10mo) has been a little monkey at going to sleep on a night.

I've put a lot of it down to the heat and been doing what I can to keep her cool (cool baths before bed, sleeping in just a nappy, fan etc) but its not been working and I'm up and down trying to settle her and she's usually not gone down and stayed down until I've gone to bed at 10/11ish.

Anyway, I've been wondering today if a 10mo really does need 2 naps a day?

Her usual daily routine is
Up at between 5 and 7, she usually has a bottle and then goes back to sleep for an hour, up for breakfast at around 8 to 830.,
Once breakfast is eaten she spends around an hour on the floor and then at 930ish she's tired, goes up to bed and sleeps til 11.
Wakes up, has a play while I make dinner and has that around 12, has a pudding and then back on the floor for more play until usually around 1300/1330 when its back up to bed until 1530ish and then its tea at 1700, pudding, then she has half an hour or so, watching tv with hee sister while I make tea for dd1.

Then its half an hour to do her leg work and then bath and bed for 7.
F
Does that sound ok for her age or can anyone re jig her routine?

Right now I'm willing to try anything as this is making any 1:1 time with dd1 difficult..

My DS went to one nap at 12 months and that was fairly early in comparison to friends and family.

He isn't sleeping til 10pm at the moment either, definitely heat related.

There's a sleep regression around this age. Plus heat etc. I would be wary of the tv as could be making it harder for her to switch off. Also when mine were up at 5am they really needed an early bedtime ie asleep by 6.30pm. Otherwise take longer to settle.

I think that most littlies would still need 2x naps / day at 10 months. I think it's probably the heat I'm afraid!

I'm confused - how many naps is your DD currently having?

Thank you for the replies. I've not done this in a long while (dd1 is 9!) And I've forgotten her routine!

Thanks for the confirmation its probably just the heat or yet another regression phase... I fecking hate all these regressions!! Just when you get a routine sorted another one comes along!

Creature - is she's up early then she usually sleeps for longer in the morning, she's not often up at 5 though, usually only when she's teething.

She has 2 naps once she's up. If she is up early in the morning, she will sometimes have her bottle and go back to sleep but more often than not, its bottle and then up for the day.

Just read my op and that's really not clear, sorry

Get her up at thesametime every morning if you can and restrict AM naps to 45 mins. Also see what you can do to reduce the room temp - we're using fans and airing rooms as much as we can.

Thanks for the ideas... Unfortunately dd2 went to sleep ok last night but has decided that 430am is a brilliant time to get up... Hmm

Think I'll have to try again tomorrow!!
