toothbrushing phobia -- HELP

my DD (2 years, 2 months) was fine with having her teeth brushed until about 2 weeks ago and she now literally won't let me do it. I can't even get her to open her mouth -- if I so much as get the toothbrush out she screams. My DH reckons its teething related but she's not showing any particular signs of teething pain and has been doing this for longer than a typical bout of teething pain so I don't think that's it. I don't want to force the issue and create a lifelong phobia but I also don't want her to go day after day without having her teeth brushed. Any suggestions? I'm at my wits' end with it.

It's not a phobia. It's a normal toddler reaction to doing something that's a bit of a pain. You won't create anything other than good oral hygeine by insisting it;s done.

You just have to persist and buy her a fun toothbrush...reward her with lots of praise. Get a brush that lights up or has her Favourite character on it.

I used to let mine watch her fave tv show while I brushed her teeth.
