Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin
She toilet trained at 2 but never had a dry night. It never really bothered her until she was 7 and became more conscious of it and I started to wonder whether she would ever be dry. I didn't want to medicalise it for her by taking her to the GP if I could help it so asked and looked for advice on here. We upped her fluid intake and stopped her drinking an hour before bedtime but on it's own, that made no difference.
A couple of people mentioned the a wireless alarm system which we got and also some really absorbent waterproof (not plasticky) sheets. We got the alarm and 2 sheets and although it wasn't always straightforward, I can honestly say she has never looked back and is now dry 99% of nights.
I just wanted to share a positive story, dd is so proud of herself.

We are now ready to pass the stuff on, free for postage if anyone is interested as it is expensive new. Feel free to pm me for more details

It's so good to hear a positive story - my daughter will be 7 in May and shows no signs of being dry and it's really easy to get despondent. Although it doesn't bother her too much at the moment, she'll have a school residential trip next year and I know it'll be an issue if she isn't dry. Her problem seems to be that she's such a deep sleeper, so do you think the alarm would work? If you want to sell it, I'd be really interested x

Brilliant!

And exactly how I got dry at the same age Smile whoever invented those things is amazing!

Don't be despondent Xmas Smile. I will try to find links to the alarm system and sheets so you can read more about them. I don't want anything more than postage for it, although dd raises money for a charity so if you did feel the need then that would be well received. Off out now will check back in later.

Mummymellymoo... It does work with deep sleepers too. I'm a really deep sleeper and was so as a child too. (For instance last weekend I slept straight through three other people coming to bed in the same rooms as me, everyone getting changed, someone sharing my bed and one of them snoring loudly, all with lights on). It does train your body to wake up when you need a wee.

It does now mean I can't lie in if I have an overly full bladder, I canine with this Smile

Sometimes takes some kids a couple of trials with an alarm though so persevere!

Wow! Well done your DD!

Would be really interested in any links as well as we are having the same problem with middle ds.

If anyone else has an alarm like the above they are wanting to sell I would also be interested.

northender it's great to hear positive news. DD1 is nearly 7 and never had a dry night. Like you, I'm trying to avoid the doctor, but feel that I need to be doing something. It's very kind of you to offer your 'magic solutions' for free. I realise I'm too late, but if you can still link to the details I would be most grateful.

Wow that is great! Well done to your DD!

I would quite like to see links too please, if you have them. DD1 is only 4 so I'm not too bothered atm but it would be useful to know what's out there if I feel we need to start intervening.

Oh yes please do post links to the alarm system and sheets as I would like to know about it too. DD is still 5 so not too concerned at the moment but I was very late becoming dry at night so given she is showing no signs of being dry at night any time soon, it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't come easily.

Incidentally she has asked to give up her nighttime nappy but as it almost always full in the morning, I haven't been keen to give it a go. I told her that if she went five nights in a row having a dry nappy in the morning, then we'd give it a go. She hasn't managed the five nights yet - and I'm not pushing it - any advice from those who have been there on whether I'm taking the right approach or not?

Brolly sheets are what we have (2 of the pink ones). They have a nice feel to them, not plasticky at all and dd quite liked them.
Rodger wireless alarm is what we have too. Some of the reviews (Amazon etc) report really quick results. We didn't find it so quick but stuck with it and I'm absolutely convinced that it made the crucial difference. Dd now, as you say OrangeLily, wakes up when she needs to go or sleeps through and goes in the morning. Either way we're very happy.
mummymellymoo the plug in part of the alarm doesn't plug in now but runs fine on batteries and you would need to buy pants to go with it. I'll check postage costs on Monday and get back to you if that's okay.

DS2 is 7 1/2 and not dry yet. We have had some dry nights but not there yet. It doesn't bother me but it does bother him sometimes Sad. I haven't done anything and wouldn't know how to go about the getting him to drink lots and saying no drinks after 6pm without making it seem like a big deal. His brother was about this age when he managed it but 8 before we were confident he was dry.
