3.6yo tantrums and clinginess

My lovely three and a half yo DS has been having huge tantrums and clinginess for the past two months. It's been almost constant. I'm a SAHM. He's refused to go to pre school and for a good few weeks refused to be cared for by anyone but me and is like a shadow. Even things that weren't a prob before are now. I can't leave him with DH while I shower. He's not happy to be left with MIL while I have my one hour a week in town! We're trying to be as supportive and loving as we can but I'm exhausted. Does anyone have similar experiences and how long did it last? Two months is about all I can take. I can't stop crying and am so unimaginative with play and activities now - everything seems to provoke a tantrum anyway. When will it end?

Has anything changed in his world recently? IN what way has he refused to go to preschool? Did you actually get him to the door and he had a meltdown or was that before you left the house?

Are preschool happy with him usually?

Pre school is a colossal change. He loved it up til week before half term and then the wheels fell off. They think he's great.

The meltdowns were happening before I got him out the door.
