Ds1 has been in his big bed for 3 months but has just moved into his new room. For the past week he has been waking between 4 and 5 in the morning . He doesn't cry just opens his door and turns his light on. He then just potters around in his room, lies on his bed chilling. He has no toys in there just a few board books. He has a gate on the door and all the sockets are safe so there is no danger. He doesnt cry til nearly 7 if at all. My question is should I be going down resettling him, turn off light etc, which he thinks is a game, or as he is happy amusing himself shall I let him just potter. I imagine he may always have woken up but I never knew. He is starting to take longer to settle for naps and isn't too bad if he has no naps at all., but when he does have one It's nearly 3 hours. He is always in bed by 7. I have always been a believer in sleep breeding sleep but is he past that now. He is crying at silly things that previously I don't think he would have so my thought is he needs more sleep. He is 2yr 3 months.
In summary - should a resettle him in the early morning, should I drop his naps or limit them to just an hour, or any other ideas?
