Which cup to buy?

I posted the other day about trying to drop bottles with my 15month old, and have decided to buy another cup to try but am completely lost at which to buy!! There seems to be so much choice, and lots seem to say only to 18 month...I'm confused

I tried her again today with milk in a free flow tommee tippee cup and she had a little, but I think she needs a different type of cup to get the amount she wants as for a start, it's not big enough for her evening milk. Lots of the ones I've seen are non spill cups/beakers - she's never had a non-spill cup, will that make a difference at all?

Preferrably need to be able to buy it online.

I think you just need to try lots, and give them time. If DD does not like one at first, put it away and try again in a couple of weeks. My DS still has his milk from a bottle at 18 months (at breakfast and bed time), but has water from all sorts of cups. His favourite is just a normal adult glass (which I help him hold). this is also a favourite, though a bugger to clean so I only use it for water. It has a valve, so the baby has to suck hard to get the water out, and it is also non - spill.

Not sure I can afford lots of cups but I suppose I might have to!

What is the difference with non-spill/spill (apart from the obvious!!!). Just can't work out which one might be best to give it a go first. She loves drinking from an open cup but is very messy, and no way could she manage all of her milk in that.

Have you tried a straw? Both mine loved drinking through a straw and it is marginally less messy than drinking from an open cup (though still requires supervision) It is cheap too!

She might be messy with an open cup, but I guarantee she will quickly get better with practice - a doidy cup is excellent for helping them practice their open cup skills.

My two still use the tommy tippee free flow ones for when they have drinks in the living room (even my 4 year old!!) they are always worth having around!

Tommee tippee free flow cups are great I agree - she has her water fine from that, always has done. She always used to refuse milk from it but had a little today (but not as much as she really wants, I think she sees a bottle as the one for serious drinking!). Only tried a straw once and she had no idea what to do, but worth another try..just not sure she'd do it before bedtime (who knows though).

Will have a look at a doidy cup.

there is a bigger size tommee tippee free flow cup that has no handles. I used the avent magic cup and a cow patterned cup for milk - they both have removable valves but I left them in to make them less messy with milk.

p.s. you can use the tommee tippee first cup without the lid rather than buy a doidy cup (I bought a doidy for dd but didnt think much of it and just used the first cup for ds to use an open cup)
