When did your dc start walking?

My DD is 14.5 months. She will walk along furniture and pretty strongly when I hold both hands. Now and again she will stand independently for 5 or so seconds. When do you think she will walk independently? She is tall - 91st centile if that has anything to do with it. I know they're all different but she's my first child so just interested.

my guess is that she will soon take off. she sounds ready. but as with so many things with children, they do things at their own pace.

Ds was doing that at 11 months but still didn't walk until 15 months! It varies so much from child to child it's hard to guess!

Dd1 was 9-10mths
Dd2 was 19+ months. (I say 19+ because she's 3.1 and still not walking properly.)

Your dd sounds like she's well on her way to walking.

Dd nearly 17 months - was like yours . Would cruise/Hold hands but wouldn't do it independently. Was also late crawling and sitting but early to talk. It's not that unusual to walk at this stage as know other kids that were also late walkers

Thanks for all the comments everyone. They're all so different aren't they Smile I don't think she is far off, she's been up an hour already charging around with her walker...

Ds1 was 7 months!
Ds2 was 12 months and has positional talipes (club feet) so I thought he'd really struggle

dd was 11months but it really does vary. in my opinion the slower the better then you dont have to spend all your time chasing them!

My nearly fifteen month old baby has only been pulling up and cruising for the last month- hoping she will walk soon. She was late mobility wise didn't crawl until 13 months.

dd1 - 10 months
ds1 - 12 months
dd2 - 13 months
ds2 - don't know yet.

All of them have been late crawlers though - dd1 only started crawling 2 weeks before she walked; dd2 who crawled (well bum-shuffled) the earliest took ages to go from walking holding on to independently.

DS properly walking at 10mths which was in someways a godsend as I have mobility problems myself and carrying him is quite difficult but he was also quite hard to chase after. Now he's just a prolific climber (3) Hmm

independantly at 11 months
didnt crawl, dragged bum along for about 2 weeks.

14-15 months for both.
And may I add a question, were your early walkers more stressful? My friend said her 10 month old DS was a complete liability, because he learnt to walk before he had the ability to connect trying to go too fast with falling in a heap. I remember her following him round the kitchen because he would just topple over backwards get up and do it again. My two seemed to learn falling was bad far more quickly.

Dd1 was hand walking at 8 months, crawled at 9 months, furniture walking at 11 months, walked independently at 15 months.
Dd2 walked at 8 months, crawled at 6 months didn't do hand or furniture walking as she only has one hand and it was dificult for her. Agree with the complete liability, no common sense.
Ds crawled at 7 months. Could walk independently at 10 months, but preferred to crawl, so usually chose to crawl until he was about 16 months. I think it was because he liked to push cars around.

My dd just started walking last month at 19 months, she was diagnosed with joint hyper mobility at 18 months, and made loads of progress after I did lots of strength exercises with her. Yours sounds like my dd about 2 weeks before she got the hang of walking around.
