she is 6 weeks old and last couple of days her face has been coming up in more and more spots. there tiny but millions of them!
dont think they are milk spots as there spreading down the face and they are red.
do you know what this could be and what to do?

Heat rash?

Babies are generally spotty. Unless it's a meningitis type rash you really don't need to worry about it. They get tons and tons of rashes and it's not generally anything serious. :)

I think it might still be baby acne / milk rash. My son had red spots all over his face for his first few weeks. Some were white but most were red. He looked like a teenager. :) They cleared up completely by a couple of months.

My DS had milk spots the same as emzars Even some on his chest and back. Went within a few weeks. If they're itching him aquarious calamine lotion is good.

my dd had the same at about the same age and we were told it was down to the hormones in breastmilk.
They were red too,i think they went in a couple of weeks

Yup! My DD had it too from about 6 wks all over her face and it lasted a couple of weeks. She had one of her check-ups at that time and the paed noted the "classic case of baby acne" and said it was just a question of waiting it out. They were red, but didn't bother DD at all. As others have said, it has to do with hormones...

Hi, it might be a viral rash? My dd started a red spotty rash on her face at 5 weeks old. It spread down all over her chest and shoulders and we noticed my 2.5 yo dd then got a few similar spots on her back. Doctor kept saying it was viral, but nothing to worry about and it didn't affect either child otherwise at all. Finally went on both after another 6 weeks although the baby still gets the odd few spots now (currently 13 weeks). She also still has a few milk spots - although they had all gone by this age when dd1 was a baby Smile

My 7 week old was been covered in baby acne (also called milk spots or milia). All over her face, going round to the back of her neck and down her neck onto her chest. It is just beginning to go away, but she now looks like a teenager with lumpy skin. It'll go in a few weeks.

But she has also had hand, foot and mouth rash and a viral rash. So I'm getting pretty good at rashes. Baby acne seems to be confined to the head and neck, so if your DD's rash is spreading elsewhere then get it seen. But even with the pretty horrible and scary viral rash my DD had, no-one seemed that worried as long as she was eating and pooing ok. Of course if you are worried then go and see a doctor, or maybe take her to a baby clinic and ask the health visitor to look.
