fillings in baby teeth

I was totally horrified about a year ago, when we discovered that my ds, now 7, had to have several big fillings in his milk teeth. This was really my fault too as i had been giving him a milky drink at bed time after brushing his teeth from babyhood. I just didn't think of the impact it would have on his teeth.
He coped brilliantly with the fillings and never has tooth ache, but i am still guilt ridden and worry most days that the teeth won't last him until he gets his big ones. Does anyone have experience of this?

Surely milk wouldn't have given him cavaties? Was there sugar in it?

I breast fed him for 18 months and he wouldn't drink cows' milk after that so i put honey in it to make it more appealing. I so wish i hadn't now of course but he is my PFB, and i wanted him to drink the recommended 1 pint of milk a day without thinking about his poor teeth.
