6 week old suddenly very clingy

My 6 week old has gone from sleeping on her back in the cot a few times in 24 hours to now not wanting to be put down- unless she is playing. I'm exhausted and have to sleep upright with her breast feeding most of the night. This is my 3rd child and the other 2 improved in their sleeping habits at this stage. Anyone else experienced this?if so how did you handle it and how long does it last?

Yep, tis surprisingly common and very trying!

Growth spurt and developmental leap time. SHould settle in a few weeks.

Co sleeping and tea got me through. Wink

Can you try shift work with DH, just until spurt is over

So things have settled until today and she is in a similar holding pattern again. I think baby is going to growth spurt every weekend just to make life interesting. I am beginning to think this is 3rd child syndrome.

Like listening to myself! DD is third child. She is now 15 wks and things have improved. Think it was partly bec I didn't want her to wake other two. Started to get ruthless at night.... Although didn't really let her cry I didn't let her feed unless 3 hrs gone since start if last feed.... Just cuddle to settle her then put back down. Also made her take full feed, took legs out of grobag and tickled her feet, put light on etc. Made her have at least 5 mins each side. I am sympathetic... Was so tired DBS tearful was fantasising about sleep! Easy to give in to the sleep& feed thing but I know I always worry that it's dangerous and dont sleep well anyway.
I also stopped the sitting-on-me-feeding-on -and-off-all-evening thing and put her down to sleep instead although only recently and ur babba still teeny Smile

You have summarized my daily routine! Just with added complication that she only feeds from my left breast and I have been told to allow her to take her time! Anyone els in similar situation and how long is breastfeeding sustainable from just 1 breast.? I don't have formula feeding option as DD has cows milk protein intolerance, reacts to soya and most other proteins.

My DD a right pain in the arse bit of a pickle on right breast. Will take if v hungry but then screamd and writhes till give her the left - has been going on for weeks now. I just always offer it first and giev her that one for long evening feed before bed when she too tired to fuss. Right def a bit bigger than left so maybe thats why but DS1 and DS2 had no probs.
