DD has started chewing her cot

My 16 mth old DD has been chewing on her cot, first of all there were just a few small tooth marks but she has now, in the space of a few days, taken the paint off and eaten into the wood. I put her down for a nap about 20 mins ago and after 5 mins went to check on her and she was standing up nibbling on the back panel, she had bits of wood in her mouth which i've just had to pick out.

The sides of the cot are plastic ( I think to prevent kids chewing on them) but the front and back panel is wood. I don't know what to do, can I buy somehting to cover the front and back?

Anyone else had this problem? Please help!

Had the same problem with ds at around same age. After a couple of weeks he just stopped. Did nothing to prevent it and didn't make a fuss about it. Need cot for dd and will need sanding.
