Hi everyone I am new to this board, I was directed here by someone from BC who said Mumsnet was far more interesting!!
Our 2 1/2 yr old has always been a great sleeper from birth really but lately he keeps coming and getting in our bed throughout the night, he won't lie still and keeps us both awake (me mainly!) as he kicks his legs about.
I initially thought he was cold so added a blanket and put a blanket under his mattress (his bed has a slatted base and I thought it was a bit draughty from below) He always wears jim jams and a vest, and socks sometimes.
I try to put him straight back into his bed and not let him get in, but he either comes straight back or an hour or so later he is back. if he is more awake he cries 'mummy and daddy's bed'
Anyone had this? any advice greatly appreciated as I am now 8 weeks pregnant and need everyy minute of sleep available to me!!
Thanks in advance
Katy

Congratulations on the new baby Proper, have you joined the MN antenatal club yet?

Anyway, back to your dilemma. It is very cold at the moment and although you have provided extra bedding he still may be cold, do you have a thermometer in his room? Just wondering as if my DD get too cold she wakes and we sometimes have to put extra heating just in her room.

Some MNer are dead against them but my DC have hot water bottles in this weather.

Other things you could try are making his bed as snuggly as possible, make sure he loves his bedding and has his choice of cuddly toys and a drink.

The one thing I would do is everytime he comes in just stick him back in bed. No arguments or fuss, just take him back.

You could also try putting him back in a grobag and putting up a stairgate.

This book is very good too.

I did have a thermometer actually, will have to root it out.
I thought about maybe getting him one of those fleecy suits to sleep in, great ideas though. Will try some of that and fingers crossed for success!
I haven't joined the antenatal club yet, don't know how to! Will investigate!
Thanks again for the advice
Katy :)

I hadn't thought of molars, you forget some things so quickly so quickly.

proper my ds of the same age kept doing that and actually his back teeth molars were coming through, he seems to be in a bit better mood the last few days, and he hasn't been doing it. are you sure its nothing like that or maybe he is coming down with something?
i sometimes use story cd in my ds room to bribe him back into his own bed,it doesnt always work but can be worth a try

Update! Good news so far!
I bought him a thomas the tank fleecy blanket for his bed a few weeks ago, I have been wrapping him up in it before putting his duvet over etc, we say he is getting 'snuggly' put his teddys next to him along the wall to 'watch over him' and two nights running he hasn't got up, and usually he gets up a few times before even going to sleep and he hasn't even done that!! Long may it continue!
Thanks for the advice!
ps I thought a few weeks ago he was teething, as he was chewing everything in sight, but doesn't seem to be bothering him now, fingers crossed we have cracked it... for now!
