Baby names

'Offensive' threads?!?

As long as there is an 'offensive' thread to cover everyone one posh, poor, badly spelt, double barrelled, hippy, celeb etc etc etc. Nobody should really get offended IMO because there will always be SOMEBODY who dislikes out choice of names.

The official statistics are now available from ONS for all! The baby names registered in England in 2008, boys and girls.

On the girls list names include Dolly-Boo, Qutie, Dollars, Bitchia, Paradise and Diamonte

The boys list isn't quite so badly scarred but does include Ebad, Little-Jay, Godswill, Tribunal and Social.

I was going to post this as a response to one of the 'offensive' threads, but to be fair to all; instead this is on a thread of its own. Please let's stop the complaining people, opinions and jokes are all parts of using these types of communities, there is no need for the excessive bitterness.

Oh my! The boys's list includes two poor souls who were called Twin 1 and Twin 2. That's just cruel.

It's not Bitchia, it's Bithia. Not quite so bad.

Qutie might well divorce her(?) parents as soon as she is able.

And Understanding may not be very understanding when she grows up. Nor Twiddel I'd guess.

Twin 1 and Twin 2 must be in the process of being adopted surely?

All babies are called "Male Infant" or "Twin II"etc officially before being named. Agree there would be a reason they have not been registered, although the registrar may to scbu in exceptional circumstances. (Neonatal Death etc).

Tribunal or Social sound like African names. (Like Mercy or Justice etc).

It does annoy me how rude people are sometimes. Would the people who spat feathers at the "chavvy names" thread necessarily get as miffed at all the cries of "Poncy!"?

Of course Twin 1 and Twin 2 are not the children's names - as Crank said, this was probably due to registrar related circumstances.

I also don't understand some mumsnetters obsession with 'making fun' of other people's names.....
