Baby names

Olivia, Matilda and Oliver

We have two DDs named Olivia and Matilda and are expecting a DS in 5 weeks. Names are proving a nightmare, though we both LOVE........... Oliver.

Thoughts please on having an Olivia and an Oliver? Were thinking he could be an Olly from the getgo but with the option to be an Oliver when he's older.

No to Oliver

it just feels wrong to have 2 names which are so similar

A wind-up surely? I can only assume the hormones have got to you, nappy-head! Take a moment and think about this.

There. Now do you see it?

I had terrible problems finding boys names during both my pregnancies as DP and I disagreed on almost everything, but we got there in the end. Surely there must be another name out there you both love, I really think Olivia and Oliver, whilst both gorgeous names, are far too similar to be used in the same family.

all sound good with your daughters' names.

A definite NO to Oliver. As others have said its a lovely name but not when you already have an Olivia.

What are your other choices?

Oh no, not Olivia and Oliver. Couldn't do it at all. Surely you can come up with something better? Oliver is lovely, but not with a sister called Olivia!

Agree, no - would get sniggered at and generally be a nightmare when they're together.

Harry
George

PS love your daughter's names

No. Much as I like Oliver it is too similar to Olivia.

How about

Charles
William Samuel
Benjamin
Joshua
Jacob

I really don't think you can. I don't have strong feelings that sibling names should go together ordinarily but that would be a step too far.

No! I have an Oliver and I really liked Olivia but no way would comsider it now I have an Oliver. I was also going to suggest Oscar...on my shortlist for boys this time round was Sebastian but I am expecting a girl! My sister is expecting a boy and it will be a George!
