I like this but am wondering if it's a. too try-hard and b. a little unoriginal to use it now as they seem to be multiplying, ie-overused?
I have spanish/italian background but this baby, if it looks anything like dd did, will be fair with blue eyes-

yes or a no, MNetters?

I know a Luca who is a boy (unsure of spelling) but isn't there that song about a woman Luca who 'lives on the second floor' is that spelt differently?

Make sure you keep him clean! You don't want any 'filthy' wise cracks.

growing in popularity with families round here in Devon. I know 3 under 4s of that name.

Yeah that was DP's complaint about the name- I am not wordly wise enough to have heard that reference before!!

Luca is more of a boy's name I think, I know the suzanne vega song though..

I would agree with the 'filthy' association.

No from me - sounds 1) Italian and 2) feminine (-a ending).

My DS2 is called Lucca. We loved Luca but decided to add the extra C after the small city in Tuscany that we visited and fell in love with.

I think it's a great name - esp. if you have spanish/ italian background.
Does not sound at all girly to me

I have a Luca so obviously I love the name, both dh and I are Italian and have Italian names though so I thought we weren't being too pseud-y for using it.

If you have an Italian, or Slavic background then it's fine.
Otherwise it's unutterably naff.
And very common too.

(meant to add, it's currently the Italian version of Jack ie there are about 8 in every primary class, so bear that in mind too!)

Gorgeous name but it is very popular at the moment

Don't like Luca at all.

I really don't like any Italian boys names ending in -a (Andrea, Luca), because to my ears such names sound feminine.

Really don't understand the names appeal in the UK
