Like them all.
I suspect Reuben may be becoming nom du jour (sp?) at moment though.

Prefer Rueben and Gabriel. (well, Gabe, not soooo sure on the full gabriel tbh...)

I like Nicholas, Thomas, Zachary

FairLadyRantALot · 26/06/2009 18:30

my favourite is Reuben, but also really like Gabriel and Lucas and Thomas is a good traditional and very timeless name..just not my personal favourite

and lol...at you being "blunt"...you may be forgiven, considering your id indeed makes one assume you might just be a tad forgetful

FairLady - you are correct, I either forget what I am typing, or I just press send while thinking of something else.

I am pregnant though, so shall use it as my excuse for as long as I am able to justify it

(I put the coffee in the spice cupboard and the peanut butter in the fridge today, spent ages looking for them both, and the other day DH had to stop me putting the washing up liquid into the fridge door ).

Ilovemydog - i love Zachary, but unfortunately DH does not . I was almost even tempted to put it on the list here but no point as he won't even entertain it.

And I do not so much love the name Thomas, but for some reason love Tom. It just sounds so, well, I don't know 'male' but also friendly and happy.

Pavlov....I did some odd things when pg, too...and my memory was shot...and, well, ys is now almost 5 and my memory never recovered, lol...

btw...I much prefer Tom to Thomas and I think Tom is a name in it's own right, tbh

I like them all apart from Thomas. And I wouldn't shorten Gabriel, it's lovely the way it is.

FairLady - DH is very strange about stuff like this, he really thinks very traditionally - like Charlie is not a full name, even if you call the child Charlie, which is fine, the actual name you give them would be Charles. He was really confused about why our friends called their boy Joe, not joseph - he did not get that they did not want him to be called Joseph, he thought he should be joseph even though he would be called Joe, as Joseph is the name and Joe is a nickname.

Unfortunately he thinks this about Tom. He says 'i am not sure about Thomas, although Tom is a great name' well bloody well let us call him Tom then rant over

Shoot - i like gabriel as it is, but DH prefers Gabe, so would probably shorten it as he did with DDs name (Isabella, known as Bella mostly).

As per my previous post to Fairlady - he would not want the boy to be called Gabe though, just a nickname!

Reuben - lovely IMO

Thunderduck · 26/06/2009 18:59

I love Gabriel but hate Gabe. I'm not a fan of nicknames and the full name is so much nicer.

I like Reuben too, Lucas is ok, as is Thomas.

I like Thomas the most.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 26/06/2009 19:05

Thunderduck - i agree re: full names, but I am thinking I need to like the nicknames as other people, children at school and maybe even DS himself might choose an abbreviation and I do not want to not like it.

I want to ask you about something completely unrelated to baby names Pavlov.

I would tend to insist that people use his full name, until he's old enough to decide for himself which to use, but I do agree that a nickname that you like helps.

Gabriel. it goes with your ds1 name (if i remember correctly, A?)

Report
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 26/06/2009 19:16

I have a DD Scorps (mentioned below )

Thunderduck - ooh what do you want to ask me? How did I lose my memory? Do I really do what I am told at the ring of a bell? Wasn't Pavlov a dog not a cat? Ask away!

Wait, ignore me. Wrong cat.

Gabe isn't a bad nickname actually, but I do think that Gabriel is so much nicer.

Report
Scorps · 26/06/2009 19:18

i'm sure you have a ds you know

I still like Gabriel. Zachary is very cool, my Dss is one and Zac is a great nn. Bloody men!

Well actually while I'm here I might as well ask you something.

Where do cats lose their collars? What happens to them? Mine has lost 5 in the past 2 months? Do they sell them on E-bay? Trade them?

Or won't you remember as you're a forgetful cat?

Report
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 26/06/2009 19:21

They sell them for catnip.

Or they lose them in trees.

Or in fights.

That is why most of them have quick release clips. Although our female cat is a little houdini and can get out of the tightest non quick release collars.

But you are right, I can't remember where I lost mine...

Thankyou, that's helpful. I think in my cat's case he's trading them for catnip, he always looks rather shifty when he returns.

..wanders off to ponder the ethics of a cat owning another cat.

I like them all, also like Rufus.
