It's gentle.

Almost too gentle. No hard sounds at all.

It's rather lovely in a perfumed upper class old-lady way.

Have you though Cecilia (like in Attonement?)

Or Cecile (French version)

Or even Celia?

I love it and it's variants too, unfortunately the all mean 'blind', which put me off using it myself...

It was my first choice for this baby, but he is a boy . There are lots of threads referring to Cecily- I checked the archives. One factor, I foundd extremely off-putting is that the name means 'blind'. Might be no big deal to some, but I found that it bothered me.

Gorgeous-my beautiful 3 month old baby's name so I love it! We have had mainly positive reactions to the name, although some people have never heard of it before!

Nice. If the blind thing bothers you, how about Cicely, another derivative, wbut which is also a rather pretty plant

I know what you mean about people being unsure how to spell it but I've had that with my older daughter's name too and even my son's name on occasion (which I though was pretty straightforward)!

The only problem I can see (if you can get over the meaning) is if the child were to have a lisp...

I used Cecelia as DD2's mn and wished I'd kept it as a first name for DD3

fine so long as she doesn't have a lisp. I always loved it but as I got older the practicalities of it meant it slipped down my personal ratings list.
