Delphi is the name of a scientific software program for calculating electrostatic potentials for macromolecules using the finite-difference Poisson-Boltzmann equation.

Not many people know that but its perfectly true.

And of course its a place in Greece known for its oracle.

Neither of which seems apt for a baby name.

Seraphim is (I think) the plural of Seraph. Seraphi therefore sounds like a mistake.

Just checked - seraphim is Hebrew masculine plural form. So one baby can't be a seraphim.

Latin plural of a Hebrew word is too much for a mere scientist and anyway just as wrong for a singular baby. Seraph if you must would be ok for a boy but tempting fate perhaps if he didn't turn out angelic.

Wasn't Delphi the seat of the Oracle because of its tendancy to ooze noxious gases? Perhaps the perfect name for a boychild then.

Thats an American site, no rationality at all in what they accept as being names.

Just for the heck of it (I'm stuck at my desk waiting for my boss to ring) I googled Seraphi ... some of what appears is on the weird side of wacky.

Shame... its actually does sound pretty if you can overcome pedantry.

I just think the 'i' sound is just so much prettier than the usual 'a' ending in Seraphina, with the essence of Sophie but a little more unusual. I have actually come across a Seraphi...and it immediately struck me as being very pretty

I really like Delphi actually or Delphine but wouldn't use Seraphi. Seraphina sounds prettier to me but really wouldn't want to use a name that means angel! What happens if they are the total opposite?!
