With the middle name of Margo, I am rather shocked. I hid my shock (I hope) and asked her if either of the names were family names, 'oh no,' she replied. 'I just thought she looked old fashioned and gave her an old fashioned name' apparently she had thought of Gladys. ffs, this girl is 18!

I like it too. Joyce Margo.... Yeah... I like it.

But, to be fair, I'd probably be a bit shocked too, if it were a friend of mine....

I do like a few old fashioned and traditional names, but not so keen on Joyce or Margo personally. But I would imagine in a few weeks time everyne will be used to it completely and ti will end up suiting the little one perfectly.

I like Margo too, and Margaret but I knew other people would think it old fashioned. We went for more 'popular' old fashioned names in the end. But I quite like Gladys, too.

MIL is Joyce.

I could use it as a middle name but not a first name. Like Margo though.

Your right I will probably like it in the end, but it was such a shock! I would of put her down as calling her baby something very different. (trying to find the right words there, so as not to seem snobby)

You know how Millie and Freddie were fashionable 10 years ago, then Ruby and Pearl 5 years ago, and it's like the names are moving up a generation to about 60-70 years ago. Probably in 10 years from now people will be calling baby girls Susan, Pat, Janet etc..

Weirdly I was listening to something on Joyce Grenfell today and thought of it as a name, and that it still sounds a bit like some dreadful old bat, but you can see how it will be cool again...

It's a bloody awful name imo. I feel entitled to say that since I have an aunty with this name and have never ever thought of it as a nice name.
