I have to say I was considering this aswell but haven't had much positive reaction from family/friends. Not sure why as I think it's lovely

Not keen on it. Makes me think of posh floppy haired fellows.

Milo also nice.. as an abbreviation of miles or a name in itself.

Lol PPH, there are certainly a few posters that could be Milesmummy, that's the first thing I thought when I saw the thread.

Nice name.

I like it but DH always says - miles and miles for sweet F all - every time I mention it!

Report
FranSanDisco · 03/08/2008 20:50

Yes, my dad says "miles behind" when he hears the name

Report
milkgoddessmakesthefinestmilk · 03/08/2008 20:52

Nice but it means soldier which puts me off somewhat.

Report
paolosgirl · 03/08/2008 21:09

It does sound posh in a floppy haired sort of way - but that's OK

You could always go for the "we want to be you-neeq" approach and tell everyone that you're pronouncing it My-Les

Report
cyteen · 03/08/2008 21:17

Or Mee-lay

Report
paolosgirl · 03/08/2008 21:19

LOL - even better!

funnypeculiar · 03/08/2008 21:19

Miles is a man wearing a cravat..must be that sitcom Frasier that makes me think that.

I thought Frasier's brother was Niles. Or was it Nyles? Anyhoo, Miles is nice but please don't use it because I might want to

Report
Cies · 04/08/2008 12:18

I like it.

It's a bit of a family name for me. I have a (v. intelligent, good looking, strong, kind) 20 yo cousin called Miles, who was named for our great uncle, who was named for his uncle (and so on ad finitem).

Mrswoolf, I wish I did know Latin. I am one of those weird folk with (atrocious) Ancient Greek and no Latin at all, but hung round with a couple of classicists at university
