Just thinking ahead...

I have a DD called Matilda, whom we call Tiggy. Would it be madness to have a son called Matthew (I am 17w but don't know the sex obv) or is that a "Ma..." sound too many? We hardly ever call DD Matilda, but I suspect she may want to use her full name when she is older and Tiggy is a family name which wouldn't be used at school, though she is Tiggy at hursery.

What do you think? Or should we go off piste and choose William (you can tell we haven't really progressed into funky names in this house)?

Girl sorted at either Elizabeth or Catherine but boy still up for grabs.

They sound fine together to me as full names.
Only problem I could see is if your DD ever wanted to be called Mattie later on...

I think it would be fine, but be prepared for him to be Matt, even if you have no intention of calling him that. William also a lovely name. And Catherine and Elizabeth

Am fine with Matt or Matty, for a boy. Can't say I'm wild on Mattie for a girl, but that's probably as I have a male friend called Matty and she already has a perfectly good nickname.

Just thinking that she might end up being Mattie at school though....
My sister is Victoria and was always Tori to all of us until she started school and the other children called her Vicki as it was a more common shortening. She's been Vicki ever since and she is 25 now!

Hm, that's a pity. DO you think I could risk it? Can't she just say "i've got a brother called Matty"?

Don't think it's a problem since they are of totally different origins. There are at least 155 boy names starting with Ma and 247 girl names starting with Ma. Some pattern or similarity in sibling names is good!
