Help for a middle name please…open to all ideas. Surname is one syllable beginning with B. Thinking one syllable middle name might sound better.
Current favourite is Rose…but feel like
I’m stuck on this and not seeing the options!

Just Maddie or Madeleine/madeline/Maddison?

I think we’ve decided just Maddie.

Rose sounds like it flows well with Maddie to me

I think you need to go either short and sweet with one syllable or go the opposite and go for quite a long middle name:

Maddie Clementine
Maddie Evangeline
Maddie Victoria
Maddie Seraphina

Maddie Jane
Maddie Bea
Maddie Eve
Maddie Layne - maybe a bit unusual but sounds ok to my ear
Maddie Pearl

Rose is like a default middle name for girls now it seems. I'd choose something like Elizabeth.

Rose is lovely and flows very well but is the current “classic” middle name, like Louise in the 90s. Nothing inherently wrong with that though!

Some alternatives:

Maddie Elizabeth
Maddie Marie (I kind of love this but might be a bit twee for you!)
Maddie Joy

Ray/Rae and Rose were initial thoughts.

Also what about

Maddie May/Mae
Maddie Eve
Maddie Jane
Maddie Anne
Maddie Belle
Maddie Faye
Maddie Paige

I think Maddie is cute as a nn but doesn’t give her many options which she may not appreciate later, so I would personally put Madeleine on the birth certificate. Rose, Grace and May are real filler nns so maybe

Madeleine Sophie / Lucy / Amy
Madeline Jane / Jean / Jeanne
Madeleine Jessica / Sophia / Eleanor
Madeline Frances / Beatrice / Louise
Madeline Pearl / Eve / Hope / June

I don't get this. Would you say that to a Clare, Sarah, Emma, Rachel etc??

I too would go for Madeleine rather than just Maddie.

Eh?? But none of those names are shortened versions of a name?!

Surely that could be said for literally every one syllable name out there?

We’re content with Maddie thanks. We’re looking for a middle name.

Only because you’ve decided it’s a shortened version of a name?

Who is saying Belle isn’t a shortened version of Isabelle? Same applies.

Who is saying Belle isn’t a shortened version of Isabelle? Same applies.

But Belle is a nickname for Isabelle, so by giving your dd the full name Isabelle she has more options- Isabelle, Issy, Belle

Same for Madeleine.
