Baby names

Alice or Alicia

Just had a baby girl (big surprise as sure it was a boy!)

She has a brother called George

Favourite names are Alice and Alicia.

Surname begins with s so not sure if that’s to tricky with end of Alice? And not sure if it will be annoying for them with there being 2 ways to pronounce Alicia? (We would use silverstone pronunciation rather than keys)

Which do you prefer given surname?

Thank you

Alice. Lots of S names that it’s not an issue with, I think it’s more a problem with something like “Nicola” which would run into the S and sound like “Nicholas” , whereas Alice would always sound like Alice.

I love Alissia pronunciation, but don’t like Aleesha pronunciation at all, and I imagine you’d inevitably get both. If you/kid have a strong preference, that would be really annoying.

Alice. Alicia is nice and I would pronounce it to rhyme with Trisha, but some say it as Alissia and some as Aleesha, so sod that, life's complicated enough.
Alice is a classic.

Alice.
Only had two in 25 of school life. Had one last year and thought how lovely to hear it again. First one was Alice-Ann which I wasn't as keen on.
Also Alice and George sound good together.

Congratulations on your gorgeous bundle. What a lovely surprise.

Alice is the better name. It might be a bit boring with George though

Congratulations!
I vote Alice
How on earth can you be SURE it's a boy when there's a 50-50 chance?!

Definitely Alice

Definitely Alice. It's not ideal with and S surname, but not a deal-breaker either. Depends how much it bothers you. Alicia is okay but the 2 pronunciations would be annoying I think.

Good choice! I was about to post that I prefer Alice although I don't mind Alicia pronounced "Alissia."

My parents liked the name Alice but rejected it for me because our surname began with "Will-" and they were afraid people would hear "swill" in the middle! I'm not sure if anyone would have even noticed (though I'm glad I'm not called Alice because DH's name also begins with "Al-", but if they did, that's got to be worse than two S sounds running together!

George is a great name too, by the way. :-)
