Louis Hughes

I really love the name Louis (inspired by another thread). This is going to sound crazy but the thing that puts me off is it reminds me of that band Huey Lewis & The News Grin

Completely hypothetical but I've always struggled with boys names Smile what do you all think?

I like it! It has a lovely ring to it.

I don’t think it does, sorry. The rhyming makes it sound like a character from a children’s book... Louis Hughes, Jenny Penny and Tim Simms all went out for a lovely adventure in the woods! What about Lewis Hughes?

I don't like lewis hughes because, in my accent and the area I grew up, the 's' would run into the "h" making hughes sound a bit like shoes. 🙈

I really like Louis Hughes. I think it has a lovely sound to it and it is memorable. My maiden name went really well with my first name and had a similar ring to it. I really liked it. The only small point to consider with names like this is that they can easily be turned into little tunes or songs. My family would always make up little songs using my name as it had a bit of a rhyming sound to it. Wasn't a negative and I liked it but something to consider.

I don't like Lewis Hughes. I agree that the 'shoes' sound is too strong.

Louis Hughes is fine. Huey Lewis and The News aren't in the spotlight these days so I don't think anyone would make that connection.

How are you pronouncing it? Lou-ee Hughes is fine.

Lewis Hughes is not, plus I don’t like Lewis.

It's absolutely fine. Louis and Hughes don't rhyme unless I'm missing something...? Literally no idea what this Huey Lewis business is that you're talking about so I'd say you don't need to worry about that Grin

Having never heard of Huey Lewis and the News before, one of their songs was on the radio earlier not long after I'd read this thread.

SenoritaViva · 22/04/2018 22:09

You certainly couldn't consider Lewis as that turns into loo issues!
