Major name wobble!

I'm having major doubts about the girls name I've always loved and have talked my husband into.

Can you please be brutally honest in opinions on Genevieve? I'm wobbling that 1) it's too frou frou (although I have a frilly name and love it) 2) that we're not French enough (ie not at all!) to use it. Would probably use Ginny as a nickname.

Please,be brutal and if you don't like it, any alternatives? Also like Sylvie, Josephine and Juliette so guess I really like French names!

Thank you!

How will you pronounce it? I like the way it looks and the nn Ginny. I don't think it's too frilly.

I'm not keen at all but that's just my personal taste. I like Ginny.

I love it. I also love your other name ideas though so think we have very similar taste!

I know one Genevieve and she never gets called anything else for short. It’s a lovely name.

Will the name be pronounced jenna-veev or zhenna-vee-ev?

It's ok. I know one and it's never shortened.

DS had a teacher called Genevieve. She called herself Genny.

It's nice, I like it. Ginny too. Don't wobble, of its one that you've always loved, don't talk yourself out of it unless there's something you like as much/more

I know two small girls called Genevieve. Both are Australian and it certainly doesn’t seem to French or to frou frou for them! Neither of them shorten it to Ginny or anything else.

It's a very pretty name, not my taste but can appreciate it's a beautiful name!

The 2 I know are known as Genny and Gen.

It's a lovely name, wouldn't go for it personally as I know a load of kids named Genevieve. But nothing wrong with it! I'm not a fan of Ginny though.

It is a name that has grown on Me. I know one who prefers to be called Gena. Although she may revert back to Genevieve when she's older. If you love it, go for it. It doesn't matter that you're not french imo.
