Hi everyone Smile

What do you think of River for a girl? Too hippyish?

I love this name. I think it's beautiful for a girl. It makes me think of River Song from Doctor Who (yes, I'm a geek! Haha), who was a badass time-lady. I say go for it!

I know a girl River. It's pretty and suits her.

It's my daughter's name and I've always had positive responses to it (as well as plenty of people who think its a boy's name.) She loves her name too.

It's not a name I particularly like.

But yes, totally fine for a girl (and I think most Whovians would see it as a female name Tardis and there are a lot of us!)

Not a fan, but I don't like it for a boy either.

There are other 'unisex' names I prefer.

It's kind of hippyish, but it's fairly mainstream/accepted now. To me, it will always look wrong on anyone who isn't River Phoenix, but I accept that that's my own issue. Grin

I think it's better as a girl's name. Also a Doctor Who fan here, so the fact that River Song is awesome helps.

The only River I've come across is a boy - oh and River Phoenix.

I'd assume you were a Firefly or Dr Who fan 😁
I think it's a lovely name.

I really like it. My first thought is Dr Who which is a positive connection.
