Wife wants Elliot Johnny, but I want Elliot John!

DW's grandfather (the only man on either of our family that has never had his name as a middle name) and I do completely agree it should be used. He was a great guy.

His name was John but always went by Johnny.

Elliot John makes most sense: his name was actually John, it also sounds and looks better.

She is very much set on Elliot Johnny! How do we decide??

Love Elliot John! No idea how you decide though as there will have to be a compromise somewhere!

Elliot John makes more sense and is much nicer.

How do you decide? Either one of you gives in or you pick a totally different middle name. What was the DW's GF's middle name?

Always think of Johnny as slang for a condom!

Well, if he was known as Johnny it makes sense for that to be his middle name. although I agree John as middle name looks better! I'd still go with Johnny though - John is a bit old and boring.

One of you decides how important it is to you, and then remembers that they had their way with dc1, so they would obviously need to be the one to concede with dc2.... which could be worse Wink

If you are looking for our opinions, I'd 100% go with John.
Johnny is a name for a condom in a lot of peoples minds - not something I'd want to call my ds.

that said, not many people use their middle names that often.

Congratulation! Elliot is a great name (mine is 14) Grin.

John does look better- but really, middle names are very rarely used.(Unless you are planning to call him Elliot John all the time).

Ds's middle name is Peter, after my Grandpa. Hardly anyone knows that, and he usually forgets himself. -(but he's 14 and would forget his head if I didn't remind him).

Elliot Michael is also very nice.

You're poles apart here. I can't see how you'll ever reach a compromise.

Elliot John is vastly better. Elliot Johnny doesn't sound right at all.

Raahh my 7 year old has the exact same name as your 14 year old!

I had a similar problem as we gave my son my DPs grandads name as a middle name.

His name is Hugh but he goes by Hughie, we stuck with Hugh in the end. I prefer John to Johnny.

Which of you is going to be growing the baby for 9 months inside your body and then pushing it out of your vagina? Because they get final say, obviously. HTH.

@SomeKnobend why? Confused

Don't agree with Someknobend at all.
The baby will have 2 parents, and together they need to work out what to do for the best.

Elliot Johnny is weird.

Elliot John is lovely.

Conversely, Johnny Elliot would be fine. It just doesn't sound right the other way around.

Johnny is fab for a first name but just sounds too nicknamey for a middle name.
