Baby due imminently...

DC1 due imminently and DP and I are still undecided about names ...

For a boy, we have:
Ronnie (Ronald)
Roley (Roland)

For a girl, we have:
Lulu (does this need a longer version?)
Polly (my favourite but DH less keen!)

Surname is relatively uncommon, three syllables and begins with J

Any advice much appreciated!

ImACompleteCyclePath Mon 15-May-17 20:37:47

I'd go for Roland but with Rolly or Rollo as NN - so cute!

maitaimojito Mon 15-May-17 20:39:52

I prefer Ronnie as I think Roley could be unfortunate if the child is ever overweight.

I'm not keen on the girls names but woood go for Polly out of the two. I just think of the singer with Lulu.

BillyButtfuck Mon 15-May-17 20:45:12

Love LuLu and Polly
I like Ronnie but not a huge fan of Roland.

voobylooby Mon 15-May-17 20:46:25

Love both your boys names, maybe slightly prefer Ronnie.

For Lulu, only people I know who get called Lou or lulu are Louise- do you like that?

ImACompleteCyclePath Mon 15-May-17 20:46:26

No! You're all wrong - Rollo is super cute <stamps foot>

CatsCantFlyFast Mon 15-May-17 20:48:31

Love all your names but especially lulu, that's ace

Hotpinkangel19 Mon 15-May-17 20:49:01

Ronnie.

WilliowGreen Mon 15-May-17 20:55:27

I love Ronnie as that was my grandad's name.
Polly is also beautiful.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Mon 15-May-17 21:01:28

Ronnie.
How about Loula (LuIu).

Chloepolo Mon 15-May-17 21:07:32

Thanks for all the advice so far, much appreciated!

Hmm, I do see what you mean about Roley maitai! I love Rollo*cyclepath*, please do persuade DH!

What about Lola or Layla instead of Lulu?

Sophronia Mon 15-May-17 21:29:33

I like Lulu short for Louisa.

Sophronia Mon 15-May-17 21:30:24

Ronald and Roland are both good. Not keen on Polly, Lola or Layla.

RoseAndRose Mon 15-May-17 21:37:25

I think of Lulu as short for Lucinda mainly. Or Talullah. Louise and Luisa third.

BillyButtfuck Mon 15-May-17 21:42:46

Talulah is so pretty Rose

29Palms Mon 15-May-17 21:44:19

Love Roland.
Ronald is pretty retro, but that's fine.

Lulu is fine as a nn, but I would give her a full name. Options include Louise, Louisa, Lucinda and Louella.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Mon 15-May-17 22:15:29

How about Lyra or Lyla.

QuietNameChange Mon 15-May-17 22:31:55

Love Ronald! Unfortunately know a really unpleasant (seriously unpleasant) man named Roland/Rolly. Which is probably why the name was somewhat spoiled for me.

Ronald is retro and imo fabulous!

Lola is lovely. And I personally honestly love Tallulah nn Lulu.

Joeybee Mon 15-May-17 23:20:37

Lulu sounds too cutesy to me, but a gorgeous nn for a Lucy/Lucinda?
Love Polly, feel this name should be used more.
I prefer Ronald to Roland...only because Rolly/Roland makes me think of a fat person! I do like Ro/Roe as a nn for Roland.

lrliml Mon 15-May-17 23:32:15

Lulu would make a cute nn for Luella, Lucie or Lucinda. Also love Lola, Lottie or Lila! Struggle to picture Polly on an adult but its sweet for a baby/child.

AbernathysFringe Tue 16-May-17 00:12:53

Lulu I associate with Tallulah and I like it.
Polly is Fawlty Towers and parrots but I know an adult one who is very likeable and pretty. It's sort of friendly and harmless really.
Not keen on either boys name but Ronnie of the two.

SuperBeagle Tue 16-May-17 08:55:50

Roland is nicer than Ronald, but Ronnie is infinitely better than Roley, which is just reminiscent of fat rolls.

Lulu is ok... Prefer it as a nickname for Lucinda or Lucy.

Love Polly.

If you like R names for boys, you might like:
- Reuben (Roo? Ben?)
- Riley
- Rory
- Roman
- Robin (Robbie?)
- Robert (Robbie? Bobbie? Rob? Bob?)
- Raymond (Ray?)
- Redmond (Red?)
- Reggie
- Roscoe

harderandharder2breathe Tue 16-May-17 11:31:43

I'm not personally a fan of your boys names but I like Polly for a girl

Rockaby Tue 16-May-17 11:37:56

Of those choices, Ronnie and Polly by miles for me.

buttercup54321 Tue 16-May-17 22:49:40

Both boys names are nice. Really dislike Lulu.
Laura
Louisa
Lola
Luna
Lauren
Leanne
Lily
