I like Alexandra best. It is classical and classy, and adaptable.

I used to like Imogen about 20 years ago, but now I think it sounds like a drug brand.

Eleanor was once a real favourite with me, but there are so many
Ellie names I wouldn't choose it now.

Not keen on any of the others.

Alexandra - pretty but a bit boring
Imogen - love it
Niamh - really like it but prefer the spelling Neve
Eleanor - boring
Penelope - don't like it, too 'posh' sounding for me, although I quite like Penny
Claudia - don't like it

When I see Niamh I just think of 'the rats of nimh' or whatever it's called

Lovely list!

I like Alexandra and Penelope best. Probably like Imogen and Claudia least, though I don't dislike them.

I really like Alexandra and Niamh. Eleanor is nice but as PP said, El- names and shortenings are very common these days. Not a big fan of the rest.

In order, I like:
Claudia
Eleanor
Penelope
Imogen
Niamh
Alexandra

Unless you're Irish in which case Niamh moves up the list quite a lot. I think Claudia's lovely and I don't think it's super-popular at the moment.

Alexandra .... yes , timeless and classic
Imogen ..........yes , just like the name
Niamh............no , don't like it , looks like jumbled up letters
Eleanor..........no , too many Ella or Ellie
Penelope ....... yes love it , maybe nn could be Polly
Claudia............no , only because there was a Claudia in my DDs class at school , and she was awful , and her mother was worse

I like them all but Niamh is probably my favorite followed by Alexandra and Imogen

Claudia is my favourite from your list - instantly recognisable but not that common.

Alexandra is lovely and very classic but has lots of possible short forms (worth thinking about if there are short forms you particularly dislike....)

Eleanor is also very classic - I like this a lot.

I'm personally not so keen on Niamh (and would envisage a lifetime of spelling it out) and Imogen, and I really don't like the name Penelope - bad association with a really annoying girl at school!

Niamh - really like it but prefer the spelling Neve
There's only 1 way to spell Niamh

Alexandra - love
Imogen - dislike
Niamh - like
Eleanor - it's okay, little boring
Penelope - I don't like it but do know some lovely little penny's
Claudia - dislike the 'claw' pronunciation but I like 'clow' dia

Penelope then Eleanor. Not too fussed about the rest.

I like Alexandra, Eleanor and Claudia.

They are all nice names, but I wouldn't use Niamh unless you have an Irish connection and can pronounce it properly.

Alexandra - like it, but think it would be shortened to Alex, which I l'm not keen on for a girl.
Imogen - love it
Niamh - great name. People would quickly learn spelling if they didn't know it
Eleanor - not a fan, imagine it on an older person. Youngest one I know is 40.
Penelope - it's ok. I think of thunderbirds!
Claudia - love it

I love Niamh and that's the correct spelling.

Alexandra and Imogen are great too.

The others are nice but not my favourites

I love Imogen. It was one of our final 3 girls names for if DS! DH was a bit put off by how popular it is, but that didn't bother me.

Report
RaeSkywalker · 15/05/2017 03:16

I do also love Niamh, but my friend is a Niamh and spends her life spelling it out for people.

chipsnmayo · 15/05/2017 06:57

I love Claudia, a beautiful timeless name.

Really don't like Penelope, seems a bit poncy for me.

Niamh is going to be a PITA to spell.

The rest are a bit naff.

I don't like Penelope. Sounds like someone who would own a pony.

I like Niamh, but only if you're Irish, otherwise it is a bit random and the spelling thing becomes an issue.

I love all the others from your list.

I like them all except Alexandra, too popular.

Claudia or Niamh are my favourites

I love Alex for a girl but dislike Lexi, and that would put me off Alexandra.
