I actually prefer a lot of these to the U.K. Top 100!

A lot of celebrity influences though I think.

Cadence, how many times the parts go round? Really as a name?

PetalMettle Sun 02-Apr-17 20:11:33

Camden and angel could be useful if you wanted to name them after where they were conceived.
I don't like any of the boy ones.
I like Aaliyah, mila, Luna and Elise. I guess Luna will get even more popular now Chrissy teigen has one

Ooh actually aurora too

A lot of Spanish speakers in the US also which accounts for some of the names that we don't see so much here in the UK.

My American friend was recently horrified that friends of ours are calling their new baby Archie. She thought it was awful. Mind you she has a Ds called Austin and a DD called Sydney so......grin

PetalMettle Sun 02-Apr-17 20:19:49

I'm in a group which has a lot of Americans in and they all thought the name Arthur was Awful

Beebeeeight Sun 02-Apr-17 20:22:50

See I agree with the Americans on names like Archie/ Arthur/ Alfie

I know a Hunter, a Mila, an Aurora and a Luna! (we're in the south east UK)

hideehigh Sun 02-Apr-17 20:29:45

I quite like the list! Never been keen on Nevaeh though <grim>

MakeItStopNeville Sun 02-Apr-17 20:33:59

We're in the Us and I'm now struggling to think of any of my children's friends that have names that would be rare in the U.K. Shayne and Kaylin (both girls) maybe?

MakeItStopNeville Sun 02-Apr-17 20:34:55

And I know several Peyton's and Piper's but they are frequently suggested in the baby names board.

HaveCourageAndBeKind Sun 02-Apr-17 20:40:32

I know a Piper, Peyton, Cadence, Mila, Everly and many more. Think the trend is probably shifting over here more than is noticed. I don't know a single Amelia or Olivia under 5!

CactusFred Sun 02-Apr-17 20:41:42

Americans think Kevin and Brian are suitable names for babies. No no no.

Lucked Sun 02-Apr-17 20:45:08

When I was a young teenager I thought Peyton was an amazing name, definitely grew out of it.

I quite like Everly, not come across that before.

BroomstickOfLove Sun 02-Apr-17 20:50:40

I met a Piper today. And I know a Mila, an Elianna, a Kendall, a Jace and several Julians.

EsmesBees Sun 02-Apr-17 20:51:06

Surprised London is so popular. I wonder if people.are naming after the city or the surname? I'm not a fan of most of these names. A lot of them are too surnamey for me. I do love Elise and Aurora though.

Mottled Sun 02-Apr-17 20:56:53

Some are nice, but I can't imagine a British baby called London or Camden. Bentley will also never be popular here, not sure if Americans use the word 'bent' to have more than 1 meaning like we do.

dementedma Sun 02-Apr-17 21:04:10

I've never met a Julian. I do know a Piers though.

PetalMettle Sun 02-Apr-17 21:28:47

I love Archie. DH doesn't like it though.

grufallosfriend Sun 02-Apr-17 21:42:18

The cutesy names trend (Archie, Alfie, Poppy, Evie) seems to be a UK trend. Think it's actually starting to date already.

TheBookIsOnTheTable Sun 02-Apr-17 21:47:36

Americans are much more into surnames as first names than us. But really the most popular names are not THAT different. Here are their top 10s from 2015:

1NoahEmma
2LiamOlivia
3MasonSophia
4JacobAva
5WilliamIsabella
6EthanMia
7JamesAbigail
8AlexanderEmily
9MichaelCharlotte
10BenjaminHarper

ClaryBeanHorshAndMe Sun 02-Apr-17 21:59:01

I really like Mila. Elise, Aurora, Elianna... All perfectly fine imo smile

Jeremias, Carter, Mateo, Julian... I also like Jace, tbh.

I don't think any of these are truly awful... (but I personally don't like Bentley, Kealyn and Makayla, tbh)

MaroonPencil Sun 02-Apr-17 22:03:14

Isn't Cadence a My Little Pony? I quite like it as a name actually. Not very keen on Genesis although I quite like Gen as a nickname. I'm surprised about Julian, that seems very English to me.
