have been struggling to find a name both my husband and I agree for DD due in the summer.

Stumbled upon Freya and we both really like it and I thought it was unusual. however in googling I discover it's a top 10 popularity on some sites.

With a W surname, I'm trying to avoid anything too popular, Freya W would be a mouthful!

How many baby Freyas do you know?

I don't know any baby Freya's, but I've come across a handful in the DC's infant school and nursery. Ranging in age between 7 and 2.

I know two in immediate family - a newborn and a 3 year old.

Also know of another 3 through friends - ranging from 1 - 6 years old.

In our primary school (about 200 children), there are 4 freyas I think - 1 in KS1 and 3 in KS2.

The darkgreener website is a good one for looking at popularity of names in England and Wales, including trends in popularity over the last 20 years or so. It's based on names babies were actually registered with rather than which names were looked at on baby websites most often. It goes up to 2015 - the Office of National Statistics usually release the baby name statistics for the previous year around August time.
Freya was the 21st most popular girl's name in England and Wales in 2015.

I know one, aged around five or six. It's not common at all where I live.

One adult, one seven year old, one newborn in my social life. At school (circa 400 pupils) we have two, one spelled Freyah.

Thanks everyone, I don't know any Freya's so was hard for me to judge.

I think in all probability we'll stick with Freya. She's my rainbow baby, so potential nn of Rey might be fitting if super popular.

Darn my DH for not automatically loving all my first choices!

Two of my four best friends both called their babies Freya

A distant family member called her baby Freya

An old childhood friend who I'm no longer in touch with has a Freya

A colleague called her baby Freya

All born in the last 3 years or so

Before Freya, everyone seemed to choose Isabella

I know of 4 children 5 and under called Freya. I also know a few other people who had it as a top five choice but ended up having boys.
It really is a lovely name though so I understand the popularity

My dds best friend is called Freya, don't know any others and think its very pretty name.

I don't think having a popular name is the end of the world, my dd has a 'popular' name but for me its a classic and suits her.

One of my family members just named their cat Freya.

I told them this doesn't bode well for their soft furnishings.

I know two. It was in the running for our DD along with Emma. We chose Emma in the end - she would have ended up in a class with another Freya but is the only Emma (and the only one in the school)
