What do you think of this? I originally thought it might be a bit too religious sounding for us (we're not), but names like Noah and Reuben are quite popular now. I quite like Sol as a nn.

Love it!!

TheMasterNotMargarita Sat 11-Mar-17 20:29:53

Love it.

I really like it and pitched it to DH for DC1 (who turned out to be a girl).

NuffSaidSam Sat 11-Mar-17 20:31:28

It's too biblical for me even though I like Noah and Reuben.

BikeRunSki Sat 11-Mar-17 20:33:28

Love it.

DS has 3 Biblical names, although we are not at all religious. Old Testament names are awesome - the plethora of Isaacs, Noahs, Rubens and Zachs out there is testament to that (no pun intended). I also know a Seth, a Saul and a couple of Amoses.

A little bit too ponsey for me.

welshgirlwannabe Sat 11-Mar-17 20:36:33

I have one smile he is universally called sol. Everyone always tells me they love his name. He went through a period of wanting to be called bob as there aren't many other Solomons around but I stand by my decision. It's a great name

welshgirlwannabe Sat 11-Mar-17 20:37:28

Also not religious.

Fits in well with the vogue for less popular biblical names. Though I always think 'solemn' and don't like 'solly' shortening.

Mumzypopz Sat 11-Mar-17 20:38:46

Sure there is a Solomon in the Bible?

Sugarpiehoneyeye Sat 11-Mar-17 20:45:01

Love it, and Sol is really cool
Also like Sullivan.

EmmaC78 Sat 11-Mar-17 20:46:47

My friend's DS is a Solomon and at first I was unsure but now really like it.

Allthebestnamesareused Sat 11-Mar-17 20:47:35

We know a 15 year old Sol and of course the footballer Sol Campbell is also a Sol.

ChippieBeanAndHorro Sat 11-Mar-17 20:56:27

Very religious. But why not...? It's actually rather nice. I would have never thought of it... But yes, I can see it. It's lovely!

BikeRunSki Sat 11-Mar-17 20:59:22

Yes, there is definitely a Solomon in the Bible.

OneSecondAfter Sat 11-Mar-17 21:04:51

Like it a lot and love Sol as a nickname.

BikeRunSki Sat 11-Mar-17 21:27:52

A post a few up was questioning it chippie. Unless I was being thick, which is likely.

Ilovewillow Sat 11-Mar-17 21:37:39

Fab! My son has a biblical name too and we are not particularly religious. It's a great name.

BounceBounceSplishSplash Sat 11-Mar-17 21:39:50

I prefer Sol or Saul but do like Solomon though it does seem more religious to me for some reason than the likes of Noah, Reuben or Adam.

ChippieBeanAndHorro Sat 11-Mar-17 23:38:57

Oops, true.

And here I was thinking of my evolution hating and scary teacher droning on andon... And praying for the people in this wolrd making the important decisions ensuring our wellbeing and safety etc. Yup, small flashback. Probably why I personally couldn't stand giving a child of mine an obviously religious name... (Oops. I'm rambling)
