All hypothetical at the moment as not actually pregs, so be as blunt as you like!

We like traditional, grown up / strong sounding names with potential for nicknames. So far, favourites are.

Francesca
Bryony
Caroline
Suzanna
Faye

Christopher
Robert
Edward
Dominic
Vincent

Love Francesca and Suzanna. Faye and Bryony are awful.

Like all the boys names apart from Dominic.

Really like all your names. Know a really cool little Vince-great nn!

Rockaby · 28/02/2017 20:03

Thanks both! I love Vince and Vinny too.

Bryony, Faye and Dominic are probably the names I'm least sure about too actually.

Yes, I've commented on your thread agnes Smile. I think Faye is really pretty fwiw, but not sure it's completely our style.

I love Francesca but the two women i know with that name would put me off it. The other are a bit meh. I like all the boys names.

I've just thought of another girls name; Victoria.

I also love Alexandra, Catherine and Elizabeth, but can't have them.

Also toying with Margaret, but unsure.

Catherine then.. but I'm biased GrinGrin

I love Catherine! The other one in our family spells it totally differently, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad to use it... It's going on the list!

Like Caroline, Suzanna and Francesca - in that order.

Dislike Faye and Bryony

Like Dominic

Neutral on the others. What about Gregory or Anthony - seem to fit your theme?

Love Caroline, and Susanna/Susannah (not keen on the Suzanna spelling), and all of your boys list.

Report
Pemba · 01/03/2017 00:17

Susanna/h is gorgeous I agree (also think it looks better with 's' rather than 'z' in the middle somehow), and I also really like Caroline, which is overdue for a revival, IMO. Francesca is nice too. The others are fine.

I like your boys' names too (except not Vincent, sorry). Prefer Robert or Edward.

Thanks again for these Smile.

I like Susanna, but really don't like Susannah for some very strange reason! Maybe because it's too much like Hannah, which is a name I've never been terribly keen on.

I love Josephine, but DH vetoed it last time Sad.

Also, I'm glad people like Caroline! It's my favourite too. Like Carrie as a nn.

I love Bryony! Never thought of it before, but it's a lovely name. What's the nickname for it?

Report
Rockaby · 01/03/2017 07:41

Thanks mrs. I thought Bry, Bree or Rony maybe?

Faye doesn't really lend itself to a shortening; I just like it! Smile

Francesca - like but really dislike Fran
Bryony - really like this
Caroline - dated
Susanna - dated
Faye - nice but a little boring as a first name - better as a middle name maybe?

Christopher/Robert/Edward - too boring/traditional for my tastes
Dominic - this is my absolute favourite name ever! I've loved it since I was about 14. Unfortunately my hubby and everyone in my family hate it :-(
Vincent - really like this - I used to have a good friend with this name known as Vince. I also know a 2 year old Vincenzo (Vinnie) who is super cute. His mum is half Italian I believe.

Just thought of Nicholas too. Nice nn options with it too.

Boring / traditional is probably a fair description of our taste tbf! I do love some of the more out there names, but I don't think they really suit our family. We already have a DD with a traditional, but not well used ATM, name. My name is traditional and becoming a but mire fashionable these days. DH's is very traditional and not fashionable (not Keith but similar). Would ideally love something similar to DD's.
