Which one do you like and why? And if you like all, can you list in order you like them... Trying to name DD2...

Jugoo28 Fri 27-Jan-17 05:49:18

Esmeralda. It looks the prettiest to me.

ThoraGruntwhistle Fri 27-Jan-17 05:50:43

Luisa is my favourite, followed by Ana. Really don't like Esmeralda.

Mum8 Fri 27-Jan-17 05:56:43

Actually one more to add: Maddalena so Luisa, Esmeralda, Ana or Maddalena...

toldmywraath Fri 27-Jan-17 06:02:49

Luisa first. Aana spelt this way, as when I saw your post with the exclamation mark I read it as "anal" blush

Esmeralda is lovely, too. Mum8 the double"D" in the Maddie one made me since. Don't know why

toldmywraath Fri 27-Jan-17 06:03:17

Wince ffsgrin

picklemepopcorn Fri 27-Jan-17 06:08:00

Luisa. Are you going for an SS or a z sound?
Aana
Maddelena not Magdalena?

Not esmerelda. Too many memories of the hunchback lurching around slurring it (Charles Laughton?)

Sophronia Fri 27-Jan-17 06:08:27

Esmeralda

Mum8 Fri 27-Jan-17 06:14:01

Luisa with an ss sound
Hm for Maddalena if we chose it, it will be Madalena, 1 d, but with mad beginning maybe not the best...

Raines100 Fri 27-Jan-17 06:56:55

Ooo love Madelena! Don't worry about the 'mad' thing. Maddie for Madeleine is common (frequently used) here. Elena avoids that, of course.

Still liking Esmerelda, too.

Raines100 Fri 27-Jan-17 06:59:11

*Esmeralda. Amazed that's my only typo. Autocorrect is driving me nuts.

picklemepopcorn Fri 27-Jan-17 07:08:19

I like Luisa, madalena is pretty too and I don't think the mad thing is an issue. If children want to they can find something with every name.

Pipilangstrumpf Fri 27-Jan-17 08:11:26

Esmeralda is beautiful

Jooni Fri 27-Jan-17 08:35:01

Maddalena is gorgeous!

goldenrachita Fri 27-Jan-17 09:36:11

Just replied to your other post.

Luisa, Ana, Madalena, Esmeralda.

But actually they are all great.

My favourite is actually Esmeralda but I put it last because as you said in your previous post it would end up being shortened to Esme which you said you weren't sure about.

Luisa
Madalena
Esmeralda
Ana

Willialwaysbelookeddownon Fri 27-Jan-17 16:20:44

I like Madalena. I'm shocked with so many saying they like Esmeralda, I think it's awful and so over the top!

Mum8 Fri 27-Jan-17 19:50:29

We are now between Luisa and Esmeralda. Second is more unique but can we ensure it us not shortened? First more of a classic. If it's between the two, which will you choose and why?

reuset Sat 28-Jan-17 00:09:34

Just to say this s one of the first OP's (ok I probably exaggerate) where Esmeralda has been spelt correctly!

I'd plump for Luisa. Purely because nobody can spell Esmeralda. Look about this very thread for the random 'e' thrown in (Esmerelda), two people, and after reading your OP, in a short thread of 18 grin

Mum8 Sat 28-Jan-17 07:50:06

Thank you reuset, but misspelling is OK as long as the name sound is OK. Read somewhere that Luisas are called Lou or Lulu in the UK, is that true? Do not want nn and much prefer the full name and Esme for Esmeralda is OK though not favorite but Lulu or Lou not the nicest sound for a grown woman. I also do not like Louise as the name we prefer is Luisa. Would that be an issue?

LaLaLolly Sat 28-Jan-17 07:53:06

I like Madalena.

Wouldn't choose Esmeralda for a child.living in the UK because I don't like the way English speakers pronounce it.

Mum8 Sat 28-Jan-17 07:58:44

Thank you LaLaLolly. DH rejected Madalena so we now narrowed it down to Esmeralda or Luisa. Ana/ Anna we are not considering as it is very common and felt we wanted something a little more unique...

reuset Sat 28-Jan-17 09:34:25

Yes, Lou seems most common, but occasionally Weesa.

Mum8 Sat 28-Jan-17 10:33:45

confusedwill we ever find a name that is perfect? Why are there nicknames? Have a three syllable name and never had a nickname... Thought Esmeralda will be shortened as its long but Luisa too... Hm... Need to keep thinking or just get over the nickname and just use the full name in the family...

harderandharder2breathe Sat 28-Jan-17 10:38:52

Luisa
