I have a little sylvie and I love it, and it's had nothing but positive reactions! I also love Violet, though there are a lot more of them about. We also had on the list:

Cecilia
Margot
Lucille

If any of those are any good? Cecilia was my absolute favourite but got vetoed Sad

Violet makes me think of a spoilt, snobby little girl (I guess it is a Violet Beauregarde association).

Sylvia is beautiful and elegant and Sylvie manages to be cute and elegant the same time.

(Sorry to any Violets or parents of Violets.. I appreciate this is all in my head!)

I really like Sylvia, it's a really beautiful name.

Violet is ok. But a bit violent imo. I don't dislike the name, but I honestly don't know why it's so popular...

Sylvia feels a bit old fashioned to me. Sylvie I associate with Sylvie Guillem - I feel it's very French.

I actually like Violet, I think it's a genteel, old fashioned name & Violets have always been a favourite flower of mine (I like flower names) despite the Beauregarde connection
