Hi All.

Little man (my first) is due March and really quite stuck. I'm in a panic now as had a recent health scare ..Kidney stones.... which was mistaken for labour and brought home how under-ready I am having a cheeky skyve from panic buying labour bag contents on amazon to post this, with only a handful names and most with reasons to rule out. Any suggestions MN'ers? I'm looking for something strong, a little unusual, but not zany (Apple is not under consideration!)

So Far

Seneca - like it, but worried too 'out there', and not easily shortened,
Lincoln - possibly front runner?
Cassius - again I like, but worry will be bastardised to Cassie and he'll be tomorneted
Julius - I really like this but as above, worry about it being changed to Julie by some bully?

Any other suggestions? or fors / against on the aboves?

...and why am I obsessing about bullies!?!?!?!

Seneca is too out there.

I prefer Julian to Julius , I've known a couple of lovely Julian's (both French) .Seneca , is awful and I would be worried about it being too like Senna , as in the laxative , not the racing driver . I will contribute Levison , Dashiell and Gabriel for consideration .

Congrats on your pregnancy OP!

Seneca makes me think of laxatives too! Not keen on Julius or Cassius tbh but LOVE Lincoln.

Hey thanks All. Sounds like Seneca is heading for the chop...... it was DH's pic, but public consensus and all.. my hand is forced Grin

Thank you for the suggestions too, very much appreciated. A few in there I liked but have been rejected by DH (making it quite easy to ditch Seneca..... I'd worred re laxitive too) I'll haggle over the rest, and any more with him in the morning and update.

Love Lincoln
Also love Cassius, you could pre-empt the "bastardising" and use Cas as a short name as opposed to Cassie.
I'd use Cas on its own I like it that much.

I loved Lincoln and considered putting our list for DS2 but DS1 is Carter and I figured we'd look like US presidential nutcases!

But my favorite for sure

Seneca is truly awful, and he'll deal with Seneca a lot in history class. Not fun.

I don't like Cassius because it seems too feminine (Cassandra, Cassia, Cass/Cassie etc). But I like Caspar.

I don't mind Julius but prefer Julian. I think both are likely to be shortened to Jules, not Julie.

Love Lincoln. Uncommon, but not unheard of and not too out there. Plus, it has a very positive association in Abraham Lincoln (rightly or wrongly).

Prefer Julian to Julias. Lincoln is nice. What about Studley, Bradshaw or simply John?

Prefer Julian to Julias. Lincoln is nice. What about Studley, Bradshaw or simply John? Heard that Nigel and Garry are getting rare. Maybe Dominic, Tristan Jethro Lyle or Kelvin?

Caelan
Cassian - alternative to Cassius
Cyrus
Isambard
Silas?
