Tom or Daniel?

I'm usually keener on full names that can be shortened, but really much prefer Tom to Thomas for some reason (possibly linked to having boys who watch Thomas the Tank Engine obsessively!)

Have posted previously but we're very close to expecting our twins now and have to decide. The girl will be called Mabel. Which do you prefer?

Tom and Mabel or Daniel and Mabel? (I'm not overly bothered about the names sounding good together as would rather call the individuals names we love).

Tom.
I'm biased as we have a really lovely 19 year old Tom. He's not Thomas, just Tom as we have a long surname and Tom sounds better with it. Bear in mind though, if you decide on Tom, that people will lengthen his name and assume he's Thomas. My son has personalised Christening gifts with the wrong name on despite his name being on the invites! People who don't know him so well think they're being polite by calling him Thomas. His brother's full name is also a shortened name and the same happens to him.

I like Daniel better, but Tom does go nicely with Mabel I think.

Tom is lovely and totally fine on its own. I prefer it to Thomas too.

Tom is lovelier and I think it matches Mabel very well.

I like them both, but agree Tom sounds better with Mabel.

Tom goes better with Mabel. Daniel and Mabel is a bit of a mouthful unless shortened to Dan

Thanks for your thoughts - am very torn on it. Would probably call Daniel Danny every day - Danny and Mabel sounds heaps better. But love the simplicity of Tom too...

Love reading your opinions

Tom and Mabel sound really sweet together. And although you're not keen on Thomas, it means twin so it works well.

Tom, but I would put Thomas on the bc.
