Cooper or Sullivan?

Surname is in my username - I prefer Cooper but DH is leaning toward Sullivan. I'm wondering whether he'll get called Sully for short...

Sullivan will definitely become Sully.
I am afraid the first thing I thought of with Cooper was that it rhymes with Pooper, but I do have two young sons who can make anything toilet related.

I normally dislike surnames as first names but have to admit, Sully is a cool nm. I know a dog called Cooper and that's really putting me off that one.

I have a Cooper who is 9. He loves it and so do lots of people he meets. I do like Sullivan too.

puppyfat and tigger - thanks for your well meaning responses. There are plenty of names that I think are fucking hideous but would never tell someone that. Naming your child is so subjective you're never going to please everyone, but glad you took the time to give me such constructive feedback

I like both OP, Sullivan slightly more. Like pp suggestion of Van as a nn too.

I also like Sawyer too. I wouldn't take too much notice to some of the comments, on here Herbert, Hector and Wilbur rule.

I'm biased as I have a Sullivan! He's 2 1/2, gets nicknamed Sully or Van.
I love it, he's got an Irish first name by virtue of being a Paddy's day baby and our Scottish surname.

The only comments we've had have been "wow that's a very cool name".

But you either like surnames for first names or you hate them.

Obviously I prefer Sullivan over Cooper but I like Cooper too.

I like Sully as a NN ( I watched a lot of DrQuinn Medicine women years ago and loved Sully Sully was his surname though)

Generally though I'm not a fan of surnamey type names.
