Down to the last 2...

Hiii Smile

We are down to the last 2 names. I'm really upset that neither of us love these, but there's not a lot we can do, as we have to compromise somewhere. We both like these names:

  • Nico
  • Luca

There are millions of names to choose from. Why choose one that makes you feel upset you don't love it enough? You'll be hearing it or saying it every day of your life Confused

For a boy or girl? I know both of both!

Flogging, because we like completely different styles, we have gone through thousands and these are the 2 we both like but don't love, I did write that in my OP!

I've got Luca on my list :) . It does seem a shame to pick something you're not overly keen on, though.

Nicholas NN Nico is my favourite

Luca.

Nico is odd sounding. Not sure why

You could wait and see when baby arrives though. You might look at him and know the right name.

Both nice names. I know quite a few baby boys called Luca, so maybe go for Nico if you want something a little less popular.
But a shame to settle for them if neither of you really love them. I'm intrigued, what kind of names do you and your DH love?

I love popular/classical names, so things like: Isaac, Oilver, Jack, etc.

He likes names that are from a different culture (not a problem but doesn't make much sense at all when I struggle to pronounce them/spell them) so names that are from Japan/China/Poland, etc. And then he also likes Hayden, Jameson (he won't agree to James) and thinks like that. I'm trying to get Nicholas, NN Nico, but we are not quite there yet and if it's just Nico, I like Luca just as much.

Nico short for Nicolas would be my choice from your last two.

Looking at your description of what you both like, would Keir fit the bill? Classic but also a bit different.

i know lots of people use names from different cultures, but I do find using Italian names in particular when you aren't italian a bit odd - but that's just personal taste.

Sounds like you have good taste in names and he has horrible taste in names.

My sympathies, OP.

Nicholas/Nicolas shortened to Nico would be my choice.

I would tell him he needs to be reasonable about the choice. Don't give in to his style if you don't love the names.

I prefer Luca.

I do think both names work better with an Italian surname, though.

Luca is lovely, as is Nicholas. Not so keen on just Nico, though it is the less popular option if that's a factor for you.

Sorry you're not enthused about either one OP, but I bet no matter what you pick it will grow on you when you have a beautiful son with the name!

I feel your pain on this one.

I prefer more traditional boys names, but DH thinks they all sound boring & wants something different... So we've only got girls names sorted.

I prefer Luca out of your choices Smile I think Nico sounds a little feminine.

Op, it's so hard when you both have different tastes. Keep looking is my advice and something will click. We have a baby boy coming on Friday and in the end we used a family name (I hate using family names! this is number four and our other three do not share any names with other family members!) but it was literally the only name we both loved. Trust me, we tried everything to find something else we could both agree on. Maybe there is something else out there or one of you will just suddenly love the other ones choice? Don't give up on it. Plus remind your DP that the baby as to carry the name, would he want to be called ....?

Luca for me. It sounds like a complete name. Nico just sounds a bit strange. Like a discount supermarket. You may as well just call him Nick, it's the 'O' sound at the end that sounds off.

Can I suggest Lucas?
