Samuel. And don't shorten it.

I love them both and if we had another boy they would be the two names I'd be choosing from. Are either of them family names?

Samuel - I may be biased though as I have one.

Daniel as I prefer Dan/Danny and also there were 4 Sams in my class at school (and 4 Bens) so for me Sam will forever feel overused.

Samuel. Though also biased for same reason as probably Smile

Both lovely names with nice NN options.
I know less Daniels so I'd sway towards Daniel.

Samuel - I also have one Grin. We don't shorten his name

Both names are lovely. Maybe pick the less common name?

Samuel

Definitely Daniel. It is the best boy's name ever.

Daniel. But I always sing the Elton John song when I hear it. Grin Don't like Samuel as it always sounds like the child has been naughty when they are called by the full name.
