Baby names

Last minute change?

Not sure if it is the heat or my hormones now I'm officially overdue, but the baby name book has just made a re appearance at 40+1 after seven months of being set on a choice between two first and middle names....

One first name has been culled right at the last minute, due to three signs from above in the last couple of weeks that have put me off!

We love love love the second first name, but I'm having doubts on the middle name and having another look. I know middle names don't really matter all that much so not really stressing, if anything I am relieved we have finally chosen the first name!

But indulge me... New shortlist (does include original favourite middle name). Thoughts and votes for favourites below. We have a single syllable surname so the middle name absolutely has to have more than one!

Thank you!

Seth Brodie

Seth Dylan

Seth Jacob

Seth Jared

Seth Tyler

Yay thanks for Seth love! Grin I'm so chuffed to have a definite name!!! Even though we have loved it for months it feels brand new again today! (I was leaning more towards the other name that has been culled) x

Seth Jacob here too. I wanted Seth for DD as I love Seth Lakeman. DH said no- she was a girl anyway! Fab name though x

Also Seth Jacob or Jared. Dylan also ok. Not keen on Brodie and dislike Tyler (very different type of name to seth!)

I like Seth. The only thing I would say is to use a really unusual middle might be a mistake. your little Seth may well not know another Seth, but might like to have a second name that he can associate with a buddy, perhaps in that case Jacob.
To have two very unusual names might be problematic when he's older, knowing how kids can be.

I love Seth too but we have an S surname and together it was too lispy and sounded really bad together! I would go for Seth Jacob. Jacob really balances it out - gives it some weight. My next choice would be Seth Dylan. Not keen on the other names tbh. Seth Jacob really sounds great though. It feels great to find 'the one' does it? best of luck!

Thanks everyone this is proving very helpful and over the moon that Seth seems to have approval!

Another name to add to the shortlist:

Seth Austin?

I do really like Seth Jacob but worried it is overkill on the biblical vibe. So Jared seemed similar but with a modern twist.

Think Tyler, Brodie & Dylan are out....

We are getting there... Well, apart from the actual baby coming out. Mad to think if he had come at 38 weeks he would have had a totally different name! Quite glad now he waited, but at 40+2 it is time now!

Jessbow - Do you think Seth is an unusual name? It is in the top 100
so I thought it was quite well known!

I never went to school with anyone with either my first or middle name and it never bothered me... Do you mean from a bullying point of view? X

I prefer Seth Jared to Seth Austen myself. I still think Seth Jacob is the nicest though. I do see what you mean re being two biblical names in a row.

However, I personally wouldn't bat an eyelid at double biblical names; John Matthew, Noah Daniel, Adam James, David Mark etc etc all sound fine to me.

I liked Seth but DH said it was a snake name and sounded like death.

I think Seth Michael sounds okay but from your list would choose Jacob.
