Tripping over Tobys, Theos and Reubens!

Why did all these names suddenly become so popular (in South-East at least!) Every little boy under 3 that I meet seems to have one of these names.

What happened to the Joshs/Jacobs/Maxs that seemed to be so popular 6 years ago when my first child was born. They have disappeared in the under-3 population.

Reuben is growing in popularity here in the NW (I have a four year old one)

Theo's are still relatively unheard of.

Toby's have been popular for a decade.

Our nursery has lots of all of those names, except Reuben. DS is the only one out of about 120 children. I do know of a few others outside of nursery though.

What's puzzling me is how there were NO Isabelle (and variants) in DD's cohort when the name was super popular yet there are FOUR out of c.10 babies in DS's cohort. Still to come across an Amelia in either of their groups though which is odd.

I'm in the SE and I know 4 toddler Jacobs and 3 Josh/Joshua's. But the old testament names are definitely making a come back!

(I will probably be contributing to this as DS is due in August and Reuben is the ONLY name I really like)

I'm in the southeast and my friend has a Toby and a Reuben, they are everywhere!

Pretty much the same here. You must have to sign a secret contract where you're only allowed to call your DS one of the following names.
Reuben
Charlie
Oliver
Jacob
Noah.
Theo.
Intrestingly Alfie and Harry seem to have dropped In popularity

I have a 7 year old Reuben and thankfully only know of one other around theae parts. Toddler names here are Henry, James & Noah & Oscar. No little Theos around at all. The only one I know of is nearly 10. We have some quite unusual girl's names appearing. Cant tell them as it would really out me - names I had never heard of but are ye olde fashioned girls names according to google.

In South-East here and know Theos and Reubens but no Tobys. Quite a few little Harrys, Oscars and Felixes around too.

I have a Jack (East Anglia) and now there are not so many. My son went 2 years without another Jack in his whole school (although there were plenty of Zack's/Zach's. More Oliver's, William's and Harrys then Jack's. Freddie (Frederick) and Eddie (Edward) seem to be popping up more too.

I only know one Reuben (older child) and dont know any Tobys at all (am in London).

It's funny, where I am in SE, I don't know a single little Toby, Theo or Reuben, and I have two under fours. Through attending toddler groups in a relatively small town, though, I know four little boys called Jude! Is this exclusive to my town?
