Help baby names for baby no2

Hi, I've just joined mumsnet because I like the frankness of the posters and I'm desperate!

We need a name for baby no2. We both loved our sons name but we don't love any other names so it feels like we are making do. Our son is called Billy, so need something to go with that aswel.

I like Jessie for a girl but husband doesn't love it (although I think I could persuade him) and for a boy we think Lucas, although the more I say it the less I like it and if it got shortened to Luke it's a definite no!

As you may guess I like fairly unusual names (thinking the only ones in the class type names), not too old fashioned or 'out there'
Any help greatly received.

Danny was actually a name we were throwing about at the start. We are in our early 30s so we have a few friends with the nickname Danny so that's what put us off

I do like cassie as well but it's my mums boss's name so I hear it an awful lot!

Thanks 😊

Is Billy just Billy? :)

Yes, he does have a middle name but it's not a double barrelled name. We like quite short names because they only get shortened anyways and we have a long surname

I've never heard a Lucas shortened to Luke actually, they all just seem to be Lucas. I have a Jessica which I never shorten to Jessie really but do quite like it. According to all the stats Jessica is usually a top 10ish kind of name but I don't know that many at all.

I know a Billy with a brother called Tommy and a sister called Madeleine (Maddie).

Other ideas:
Archie, Callum, Conor, Dylan, Ethan, Eddie, Freddie, Harvey, Harley, Jonty, Jamie, Jake, Joe, Liam, Nathan, Robbie, Ronnie, Riley, Sonny, Solly, Sidney, Vinnie, Zach

Annie, Amy, Casey, Carrie, Callie, Connie, Courtney, Chelsea, Dulcie, Effie, Edie, Elodie, Georgie, Halle, Honey, Hadley, Hayley, Hattie, Ivy, Josie, Jodie, Kitty, Kayley, Kelsey, Keeley, Kenzie, Lacey, Lindy, Marnie, Macey, Mercy, Melody, Naomi, Polly, Romy, Sadie, Susie, Sylvie, Tansy, Verity, Zoe

I was wondering if it was a NN for William x

Tommy, that's interesting because I quite like that. We both like Ben but Billy and Ben is a no go, as is Bobby (the other name I sort of liked) as they just sound silly together!

Think I'm sold on Jessie, Jessica is more classy and girly. We would probably stick with our theme of having the shortened name on the birth certificate.

Charlie, Nicky or Taylor for a boy. Carrie, Josie or Maddie for a girl.

Really? It must be where I live because I've not come across it and I never see it listed on people's suggestions (maybe people don't like it enough to recommend)

Lucas is the only name we can sort of agree on but the more I think about it the more I go off it. I work with children so it's hard to find a name that I haven't come across before. 1 or 2 Lucas but that's not much compared to other names.

Thanks for the boys recommendations from people who know a Billy with a brother to consider names that go with.

We liked Cohen but think that name is a bit too modern for us.

I would put Billy with Tom, Harry, Finn, Jude, Rufus, Dan, Sam.

For a girl I would have Lucy, Mia, Juno, Martha, Pippa, Tabitha.
