Baby names

Boy's name Oscar, Dylan or something else?

Really like these names but am concerned that Oscar is too popular and that Dylan is too Welsh? We don't have a Welsh connection.

Also considering: Sebastian; Leo; Louis; Jude; and Lennon amongst others.

Any other ideas also welcome! We like names which are bit different but not excessively so.
Thanks in advance.

Apart from Lennon I think they're all great names. I don't associate Dylan with a Welsh connection, it's a fairly standard name now I think?

My favourite is Leo.

Thanks - Lennon was the wild card!

From just your title I was going to suggest Jude Grin. Jude or Leo, I like Dylan as well.

I like Dylan but definitely see it as Welsh.

Lennon is really cute. I'm

Oops too quick. Was going to say I'm surprised Lennon hasn't become more popular with the whole surnames as first names trend as it has such a nice sound.

I like them all apart from Sebastian. Leo is also my favourite Smile

I love Oscar and don't know of any others at dc school. I have a Dylan so am biased on that one (dh is Welsh) and again don't know any others. Not sure about the others. Go with what you love anyway and so what if its popular x

Dylan great name and perfectly standard round here for non-Welsh people

I love Oscar but I own one so am biased. Dylan sometimes makes me think of pot smoking parents ( not Welsh) who loved Bob Dylan.
Louis is not masculine enough and love Seb as opposed to Sebastian also love Soloman or Sol too.
Jude ... Same feeling as Louis and Lennon is trying too hard!

2 Dylan's in ds class at school. Neither is welsh.

Also a Lennon in his year! Sweet boy.

If you like the names, pick one. It doesn't matter if somebody thinks it is welsh...

Ds is nearly 13 and was Dylan right up until I had him and he became Oliver.
My dd has an imaginary friend called Oscar and I absolutely love it and if dp wasn't snipped and we had a boy I would definitely use it :)

There are 4 Oscars in my DS's class (Y1), so i would avoid that due to popularity. Quite like all of your other choices.

I have two DSes and they're called Dylan and Leo :)

Wouldn't go for Oscar, the South African news has put me off it, a few months back.

Ooh we have the same taste! I have a Dylan and I love it, although I also really wanted Jude. Sebastian and Leo are get names too.
I don't think Dylan is too 'welsh' , there are a fair few here in the south east.

Thanks again everyone. I was leaning towards Oscar again but then went to a local playgroup and there were two kids there called Oscar - very, very popular where I live I think.

Think am now leaning towards Dylan with Jesse as a middle name - but that could all change at any given moment.

My due date is tomorrow - oh god!

xx
