Hi what do people think of the name Vincent? Vinnie for short? We quite like it as it isn't very common.

Don't think it's come round to fashion again. Still a bit Spiv.

I know a little Vincent - I'm less keen on Vinnie than Vincent. But I think it's a really really good name.

It was my no. 1 choice - but turned out to be DD! Love it and you rarely hear it.

Good name, would like to hear of it being used.

I know a little Vincent. I don't love it but it suits him. I don't like Vinnie.

I love it! Was desperate to use it for my DS2 but DP said no. Sad it's a lovely name

I like it as I currently don't know any (and I'm a teacher!) so that's a real positive as I like original names but I have previously taught one and he was absolutely lovely (yes I know I shouldn't judge on sole basis of names but I can't help it!) Grin

I would want it just for the Don McLean song which is so beautiful. DH's friend is Vincent so we felt we couldn't use it.

Hate it.

Well it's already on my short list if I have a boy.

I imagine a little Vinnie to have slitty eyes and a buzz cut, and possibly an earring.

Like it! Has a nice sound. Prefer Vince to Vinnie.

I love Vincent. Nickname Vinnie, I'm not so sure.

'Slitty eyes' wtf?

Report
DickDewy · 20/12/2015 21:31

I mean slitty eyes as in a mean sort of face.

MitzyLeFrouf · 20/12/2015 23:11

It makes me want to say 'Yo Vinnie' in a wise guy accent.

Well Vinnie Jones springs to mind straight away. Plus there is a Vinnie in the secondary school where I work and he is a bit naughty so not good connotations, Vinnie, for me.

I like Vincent. And Vince for short.

I have a cousin Vincent. He is lovely! If shortened it's usually Vin. Only his sister calls him Vinnie :o

My nephews called Vincent. We all call him vinny. Its traditional for his dad's family for the first boy to be called vinny.
I always used to immediately think dark hair and eyes when I heard vinny, but our vinny has blonde hair blue eyes even though his dad and family are Jamaican.
