Hi All

I am having a baby girl on 1st December (by planned c section due to complications) and I just cannot for the life of me decide on a name for her!

The short list is:

Ophelia
Ivy
Marnie
Sylvie
Lila

Middle name will definitely be Rose after my grandmother.

What do you think? Or any other suggestions considering the names above are all ones I love?

Thanks v much

p.s. my mum has told me she hates Ivy which I can't get out of my head... I know it isnt her baby but it would be a shame that she wouldnt like the name we call the baby!

Thank you, I also like these 2 and they feel less popular which is a good thing... but I am not sure if I prefer Ivy to Sylvie!!??

Sylvie for me but only because Ivy is making me think "Holly and the ivy"

I like the fact that Ivy is a short name like Leo (my son) too... not that they should necessarily 'go together'!!

Definitely Ivy, second choice Marnie. Not keen on the others!

We would have had a Marnie if we hadn't had a boy. I love that name.

Ok I am liking the votes for Ivy... looks like my mum might be put out but c'est la vie and hopefully she will grow to love it. My parents didnt like the name Leo at first but then they got over it and I can't imagine him being called anything else now! So perhaps Ivy, Marnie or Sylvie should be the short list...

I like Lila best, followed by Sylvie and Marnie.

Ivy's lovely but not sure if I like Ivy Rose. Too botanical?

Don't listen to your mum if you love the name, Ivy and Leo go really well together.

I like Lila and Sylvie too.

Ivy Rose....botanical as pp said, possibly a paint colour. I do love Ivy but not with Rose.
Hate Ophelia.
Marnie. ..fine, never liked that Little Woman character.
Sylvie also fine.
Lila is lovely

I like Marnie the best. "Marnie and Leo" sounds adorable.

Ivy - Meh

Sylvie is cute.

With Lila, you'l have the 'Lee-la' or 'Lyla' pronunciation problem, she will be forever spelling her name out.

My favourite is Sylvie.
Marnie and Ivy are not my cup of tea. Lila is very nice but the pronunciation question is a good point.
Ophelia is quite pretty.

My favourite is Sylvie Rose. I do like Ivy too, but as pp said, Ivy Rose is a bit too botanical!

I only like Ivy from your list. When I named my daughter I knew it wouldn't be to everyone's taste. I wasn't sure if my mum would take to it straight away but she said she did. Your best not discussing these things with family until baby is born and named. Ivy Rose is fine.

Marnie Rose is lovely.

Ivy is an ugly name, sorry but I just think of that awful stuff you can't get rid of in the garden.

Ivy is lovely! Definitely my top pick your mum will love it when it's on her DGD I like Ophelia too.

Sylvie is cute enough for a toddler, but not an adults name. Lila isn't anything either way imo, on the 'not great' side of meh.

Marnie just isn't a name to me, sounds like something a child calls a teddy. Can't imagine an adult woman in the workplace called Marnie.
