Mia is lovely and a timeless classic.

Leela (especially spelled that way) is more modern but I'm not keen, if you want my honest opinion.

Honestly I wouldn't choose either as I the sound of both is too similar to Eva and I don't like when sibling names do that.

If pushed I'd go for Mia. Leela is too Futurama.

Lila is nicer than both.

Leela - to my ears and eyes - is awful. It looks like a made up name, that's a less nice version of it's established alternatives. I'd go for Lila or Leila.

Would you definately spell it Leela? Sorry if this sounds rude, but it sounds awful as I read it. I'm just not sure what name it is meant to be? Is it a "unique" spelling of an existing name?

I think Eva and MEa sounds ok, but as others have already said, both names open to mis-spelling and mis-pronounciation. Wouldn't pick either for those very practical reasons.

Dh prefers Mia too...and I wanted to spell it Leela instead of Lila to avoid ambiguous pronunciations.

Mia would just be Meea.

We can't think of another names right now and open to suggestions.

I saw a thread the other day discussing the name Thalia. That's very pretty and seems to fit with the other ones you like. I think you can spell it Talia if you want to make the pronunciation clear.

I like Lila, but very definitely with that spelling - which I think you had on a previous thread, but then changed it for pronunciation reasons? Mia and Lila are both very elegant - to me, Leela loses that. Sorry.

So: I prefer Mia to Leela, but I prefer Lila to both.

I know you haven't asked for suggestions, but how about Lelia? (LEE-lee-ah) It has the start sound of Leela and the end from Mia. I'm not making it up - it's an unusual but long-established name, and I know a very cool Lelia which makes me like it even more. I also think it has an unambiguous pronunciation, which I don't think can be said for Mia.

I just checked and Lelia isn't on the MN names list but if you search elsewhere you will find it, eg: www.babynamewizard.com/baby-name/girl/lelia It was popular in Victorian times apparently after a novel titled Lelia by George Sand in the 1830s.

To my eyes Leela looks like a 'made up' name. I really dislike it.
Mia is okay. Eva is lovely.

I prefer Mia, which I would assume was pronounced as you intend it to be if you use it.

I've never heard of it being pronounced My-ah before. That isn't the norm.
