Not planning on using it (think the one currently under manufacture is another boy) but just heard this on the school run - what do you think?
On one hand I think 'Gaynor' but the more I think about it, the more I like it...

I love it. Sassy, joyful, and unapologetic.

Great contrast to all the delicate Florences and Amelias.

Hmmm, no, not a fan. Sounds old fashioned in a fuddy duddy way.

It was my favourite auntie's name. A fun, formidable, feisty lady with a sense of mischief and a fondness for the gin.

It makes me think of Gloria Swanson, Gloria Estefan, and the wonderful Patti Smith track. It's a great name.

I taught a Glory once, which I much prefer to Gloria, even though I would never use it myself.

I think it's queenly.

Wasn't it coined as an honorific for Queen Elizabeth I? So very appropriate now.

Queen Elizabeth was Gloriana.

Gloria is said to be more recent: www.behindthename.com/name/gloria

I have always associated it with older ladies who wear dramatic makeup and dye their hair jet black.

I'm not entirely sure why, as I've never known a specific Gloria who looks like this.
