hi there

i am a muslim whilst my husband is jain (similar to hindu) so am looking for modern baby names that have meaning in both muslim and sanskrit. Something modern and easy to pronounce would be good too. Anyone got any suggestions for both boys and girls names? We don't know what we're having yet.

She meant because of Nazi connotations with the "Aryan race". It's a shame because it's quite nice in and of itself!

I really like Kiran for a girl and Rohan for a boy

I was just thinking that I though Kiran was a boys name when I remembered my son had a friend when he was about 6 who had a little brother called Sofian. He was a beautiful little thing and was definitely a boy but my son kept telling me that he was a girl because he was called Sophie Ann :)

Kiran is gender neutral, however if anyone were to use it they'd have to expect to hear Kieran a lot

I know LOADS of boys called Aryan (north London). No on bats an eyelid. Wouldn't use it myself though.
