Fred lovely but love ads of them round here. I know five amongst my DS's friends.

Roomsdoom Wed 11-Feb-15 20:13:32

Not love ads. Know loads.

scratchandsniff Wed 11-Feb-15 20:14:57

Ahhh that is the problem with Ralph but I figure it's a generational (is that a word?) thing and wouldn't be known by his peers.

dementedma Wed 11-Feb-15 20:15:48

My sister has a Ralph..... and a Fred!
I'm sure that helps. grin . Fred is more usually Freddie or Frederick ( French speaking country)

scratchandsniff Wed 11-Feb-15 20:16:15

Cric is that a good smiley or a poor kid smiley?

BlueStarsAtNight Wed 11-Feb-15 20:18:53

I like Fred better by miles

MrsBungle Wed 11-Feb-15 20:20:17

I prefer Ralph. I'm not a fan of Fred at all but I must be in a minority as there's loads of them around here.

blondiep14 Wed 11-Feb-15 20:22:00

I love my Fred grin!

As a PP mentioned, as much as I like Ralph, I do think of Judy Bloom.

Or early teens in their best polo shirts reeking of Lynx!

Cric Wed 11-Feb-15 20:30:56

It was a good smile!!! I like the name!

rockinrobintweet Wed 11-Feb-15 21:48:01

Frederick is my favourite. it was on my shortlist at one point but seems very popular now.

Ralph made me think Ralph Lauren as DH used to like this make when we first met!

QueenBean Wed 11-Feb-15 21:49:41

You're asking what to name a dog right? Either is very suitable for that

Flingmoo Wed 11-Feb-15 21:55:47

They sound like names that you can burp. Maybe just because I had a relative who always used to burp the name "RaaaaaAAAAAaaalph" in a most disgusting and belchy sounding way every time he needed to do a big burp... Childishly, I always found it hilarious. Sorry.

lebkuchenlover Wed 11-Feb-15 22:02:44

I prefer Ralph.

shoobidoo Wed 11-Feb-15 22:08:03

I don't think most kids nowadays read much Judy Blume, I've personally never heard of it. I think Ralph is a great name!
